I had an u/s today due to spotting. Bub measured 5wk5d and HR of 105. And the u/s lady was talking to the other lady in there- and said look there's a small peri sac. I'm thinking WTF a peri sac! any one going to tell me, then the other lady said (she was also pregnant) thats always been my fear to have one of those.
So if anyone can shed some light on what a peri sac is, because unfortunately they didn't think to explain that to me. I have a feeling it's to do with my spotting.

Do you have a follow up appt with your OB?
From what i can tell its a peri-sac haemotoma and noramlly has no effect on the developing foetus, but Im just googling.
Alan might have a better idea than me.
When you feel up to it, call the u/s place (or have your care providcer do it) and make a complaint becuase thats just not for them on to scare the crap out of someone!
I think it could be a peri sac haemetoma? If so then it could be the cause of the bleed. I think it is like a little sac of blood but it doesn't generally cause any issues with the baby![]()
They can comment about it but cant tell you what it is so you dont worry if you dont need to.
I tried googling it and havent really had much luck...
Hopefully the doctor can shed some light.

yeah that's what I came up with googling, the Dr was in the room when they were doing the u/s so i'm sure the Dr woud have told me if I have to be worried, but I wish they'd learn to not talk over the patient and actually talk to the patient. My Dr was actually meant to be flying out so was goood for her to be there with me before she left, she told me to ring her on monday and she will have an appt for me.
This is what I have read as well, and that even jsut a sneeze or a cough can cause the leaking of blood, and it is often bright red, which is horribly scary when pregnant. Hopefully you can see your oB or Dr soon and get another scan down the track a little and they can monitor its size, but it was good to read that is can resolve itself. It can be very amazing what the body can reabsorb. I still had a pretty large amount of bleeding and clotting that we expected to come out, but in the end it all liquified and was reabsorbed.![]()

Sounds like a SCH which I have had and the pregnancy was fine after I bled it out.
Def get onto your doc thought to get details.
By looking it up it also means a sub chorionic heamotoma. I have had this with my last 3 pgcys. The last pgcy had the SCH pressing up against the sac which made the sac out of shape, once the bleed had dissolved, our passed through the sac went back to its normal correct shape. I am expecting something similar with this pgcy since the last 3 had one. I guess will find out next week. With the last pgcy they had mentioned that once the bub is bigger than the bleed it should be fine.
