Carrier recs for a summer baby please :)

Hi... just pondering what carrier to use for this baby due middle/end of November and I'd love some ideas.

With my son who was born in March we used a HAB and I LOVED it and would use it again but then I realised it may get too hot? We also have an ergo that we used mostly from 5-6 months old and I'd be happy to do that again.

So really, I'm just looking for a good newborn carrier for the heat. I have never used a one shoulder sling as I can't see it being comfy. I carry backpacks a lot because even a bag on one shoulder irks me. But the best option I can see is maybe a breeze baby sling? Any ideas?

Hmm the Ergo Sport is cooler than the standard one - is it the standard one that you have?

The Close Carrier did me in the summer time, but thats a tassie summer....

I used a close carrier in Qld summer - just made sure DS2 wasn't overdressed.

As a born and bred Taswegian I can assure you, Melbourne summers are a lot hotter Good to hear the close carrier worked well in Qld summer too though. Maybe I'll stick with our beloved HAB and see how we go.

I used my close carrier in the recent Melbourne summer and found it a little warm : (

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

First time poster here.... hi all

I, too, will be having a summer bub (due in October) and am really undecided as to what sling I should get for when baby is under 6 months old. After 6 months old I plan to use the Ergo - seems to be quite popular for older babies. But what about summer babies?

Have basically narrowed it down to
    - ring sling
    - peanut shell
    - close baby carrier

Does anyone have any more comments about using the close baby carrier in summer?

I prefer the close baby carrier to the ring sling or peanut shell as I prefer to have bub's weight evenly distributed on me...... fingers crossed that I can use the close carrier in Sydney's hot summers too!

I'm leaning towards a breeze baby ring sling (along with the beloved hug-a-bub) as I realised I could carry baby easily at the beach/pool in that so I could take my toddler swimming.

    Hi Girls

I've got a few slings / carriers - so hope I can help I have a breeze baby, great for QLD summers (I'm here enjoying the sun too ). I love ring slings for newborns - they are fantastic and really suit that period well It's also good for a toddler as I still use mine out and about when I don't want to use the Ergo or when I'm at the beach / pool. So for me - the breeze baby is a double winner.

I noted you have an ergo already - but they are releasing the performance (out in september) which is made from cool mesh - so is designed and perfect for that hotter climate, also its more slim fitting....however, you still will use the H2H insert - so still pretty warm when wearing a newborn..

I've got the sport and love it for QLD...I just lift up DD shirt under the ventilation slit just to give a cooler feel on her back - and she doesn't seem to mind..

Also - about the peanut shell Q - I've had a pouch sling and I find that they are ok in terms of heat etc, I found it harder to use for newborn though...Peanut shell is putting out a new adjustable sling too...I think this year??

    hope that helps xxx
and yep, I love my slings..hahaha
