I am planning on useing MCN's for my little one and am working on building up my stash. That having been said I'm not sure how many I'll need. As in about how many a day does a newborn go through? We don't have a drier and from the pre-washing I've done it's taken about 2 days for the absorbant bits to dry. So I know I'll need to have enough for say 2-3 days worth of changes, but since I don't know how many a baby goes through in a day, I have no idea how many I'll need to stockpile.
I was planning on having a stash of pre-folds, just in case, but I've also been buying ones for 'newborns' which I am assuming you can use for newborns That having been said I know nothing about MCN's...not really, and I don't know anyone IRL that uses or has used them to ask for advice, which is VERY frustrating.
most places reccomend having 24-26 to ensure u always some available if u wash every second day.
depending on what ur going with OSFM prob wont fit a newborn they usually start at 5kgs.
if ur using fitteds it does become rather exxy to have 24-26 smalls, then meds! not entirely sure how long babies last in smalls, someone should be able to help u though.
we used prefolds and terry flats when our girls were freshies, i have about 30, but thats only because thy were given to us.
next bub will be in a mix of prefolds and smal fitteds.
FWIW we have about 45-50 nappies. mostly fitteds some osfm that i dont use because theyre a bad fit on my skinny legged miss.
if ur interested, theyre CT basix im looking to sell
:yeahthat:
Prefold do dry a lot quicker though.
I don't know about now but I had heaps of trouble getting kissaluvs. I had 30 ish I think and I had a whopper too. That said though he was still too little for lots and at 14months and under 10kgs he's still wearing most that we started with, so you never can tell.
NB generally need changing 10-12times a day if that helps any.
My newborn has a stash of about 25 mcns and prefolds but I am loving the prefolds best atm - so easy and quick to change and dry (I have no dryer either). It does take a while to build up a stash, I have about 30 for my older boy in size large and some OSFM so I just need to build up my meds a bit. I had a premmie so finding cloth anps to fit her was hard but the Kissaluvs size o, monkey doodles, mio prefolds and (now not making but you can still find them) BBH newborns. I can help you with what I find quickest to dry with what I have in my stash if that helps?
For newborn I'd go through anywhere from 10 to 15 nappies a day.... I tried many a brand, from pockets to AIO's to fitteds, and personally I think fitteds were the way to go! Love the thirsties, raphaels and kissaluvs with the thirsties covers!
My bubs was 7lb 5oz and didn't grow into most OSFM until about 3-4 months... so until then he was in newborn and small sizes. From memory I think I had 30-40 but that was to ensure I never ran out, and there was always a good supply in the basket just incase! lol (And I washed every 1.5 days!)
I had a premmie baby so unfortunately I didn't get to use my mcns until he was 6 or 7 weeks old. But we went thru and still go thru around 6 to 7 mcns a day. I know ppl who go thru that with newborns in mcns a day too. HTH
