That's the same age dd was when she went into hers, they soon settle into them and learn to roll and crawl if she is in it for that long. What kind of brace us she in?
it's the db brace, can't remember the long version of the name. I am actually glad it is this brace, I imagine the pavlic ??sp would be more dificult to cope with, for bathing, clothing etc.
Still struggling with sliping the nappy under the bar though. she's caught me twice now weeing, because I'm not quick enough. But this afternoon she is smiling again, and really happy, and she slept well last night considering the brace and the complete lack of routine yesterday. She's my little trooper, and all this time i've been worried she will get asthma like her brother, didn't even consider this.
We had the same one, a dennis brown bar, we called it her handle bar. This is the one dd was in the longest, and it was much easier than the second one which went on over the clothes. I bought some extra big pants that fitted over the bar, she was a 0000 at the time but I got some 00 ones which fitted really well. it also hid it pretty well as I got frustrated by all the comments and stares we got, I got tired of explaining to strangers in suermarkets.
At night time we put her in sleeping bags to keep her warm. I had a few poo instances when I wasn't quick enough but the brace washes down fairly well. Nappy changes get easier, we used to hold the bar with one hand, slip the nappy up her back and then unfold it if that makes sense?
When she is starts to roll she may roll over get stuck it may be too hard for her to roll back, we wedged dd in with pillows and nappies rolled up so she couldn't move. She was rolling earlier than her playmates as I think the brace made it easier.
If it is to be adjusted every few weeks as she grows maybe give her panadol beforehand if she gets grizzly, I found it was easier to pre dose beforehand ratehr than waiting for the pain to kick in. Thats all I can think of for now.
wellwe are a few weeks in now. Had a really good result after just 3 weeks having 60% coverage on the displaced hip, just some further maturation required. Docs are hopefull that the brace can come off in Augst at our next appointment.
tights and leggins have been handy, but are a pain when changing a nappy. 00 suits are great, and 000 can be worn wit the bottom undone. Bigeest problem has been that because her legs are held in that position she at first had trouble pooing, and now she's fixed that but there isn't enough baby chub around the leg holes of the nappy and we have had a few poo explosions!
