Basically just needing some reassurance
DS1 was a really slow feeder - it used to take approximately 45mins-1hr each feed from beginning to end.
He was a little lazy, but really just slow (he still is with his eating habits now, 12yrs on, lol) - and he fed every 4hrs like clockwork.
I didn't have any issues with supply - if anything, a little more than I needed, he fed fine for 12 months until he self weaned.
DS2 was born at 36 weeks, we had a few issues initially with his attachment/sucking - but used the shield and by day 3 he was feeding perfectly, every 3hrs.
He was 3 weeks old yesterday, is feeding every 3 hrs (has a little stretch overnight approx 4-4.5hrs).
The main difference is that he only feeds for approximately 20 mins - is this ok?
He seems to be getting enough - moreso that he just drains the breast a hell of a lot quicker than DS1 ever did!
I know each baby is different - just the difference from 1 baby approx feeding for an hour each time to the next baby being done in 20mins is a big difference!
I'm using cloth, and his nappies are wet at every change (Changing him every 3hrs at feeding time) - and almost all nappies have been dirty as well - even if only a little.
I had him weighed on Monday, and he had put on 200grams in just under 2 weeks - does this sound ok?
He's not waking to be fed within the 3hrs, or doesn't seem hungry inbetween the 3hr feeds - he's happy & settled.
Just needing the reassurance on the 20min feeding!

Same thing happened with me. Ds1 was a slow feeder but ds2 will chomp it down quickly. I thought it was great as I am too busy to sit for long feeds. Xx
It's so good to hear that your feeding is going so well already - well done to you both It all sounds absolutely fine to me. I can understand you wanting to check though. My first DS never, ever fed for longer than 10 minutes, and rarely longer than 5 minutes even as a newborn. I was convinced he wasn't getting enough - despite copious wet and dirty nappies and 400g/week weight gains LOL! As new mums (even when it's not the first time around) we usually need a lot of reassurance!!

It all sounds absolutely fine to me. I can understand you wanting to check though. My first DS never, ever fed for longer than 10 minutes, and rarely longer than 5 minutes even as a newborn. As new mums (even when it's not the first time around) we usually need a lot of reassurance!!
