Low blood pressure or something else?

The last few days (since the baby decided to rearrange and drop lower) I've been feeling 'weird'. Hard to describe - a bit fuzzy around the edges, not quite dizzy but not quite normal either, and generally feeling 'off' enough I'd prefer to just sit down rather than stand up and I'm getting the other half to do all the driving. I've had very low blood pressure before and tended to pass out or have it go black so I can't see when I stand up fast, I'm not getting that at the moment though. Not that I could stand up fast if I wanted to with this bump

Cheap and nasty blood pressure monitor I recently aquired says I'm at 110/60 (give or take a point or two - its a cheap wrist one so I've been averaging) which doesn't seem that far off normal for me - I have a list of more official BPs here of 113/68, 124/56, 122/45, 117/67, 118/67 and 114/59 from the last 6 months and I felt just fine when those were all taken, but then I'm no nurse and don't know how to interpret those numbers.

Any ideas what might be causing the weird feeling? Next doc appt is still a few days away.

    Hi RumpledElf,

I don't have any advice for you here I'm afraid, but I wanted to say this sounds exactly how I'm feeling. Really fuzzy, and kind of faint (but not to the point of going black or anything). I've had lowish BP too over the past few weeks, but not low enough to be worried about. I'm walking around in a haze (still working, which might be a little crazy). Anyhow, I just wanted to respond. Sorry I don't have anything insightful or helpful to offer! Not long now hey...

Maybe its just a late pregnancy thing - some people get swollen and high blood pressure, and we get this ...

I thought because the baby dropped right before I started to feel like this that there might be pressure on some artery or something that is screwing things up. I have a doc appt tomorrow, I'll see what they say. Probably get the usual "its fine, nothing to worry about". Its eased off a bit, at least. And its an excuse to sloth around and ... wait

I saw my Doc today and asked about it. He said it was all okay I thought it must be something to do with bub pressing on some important vein/artery or something too. I had the dropping feeling before this started... All the best tomorrow...

Not sure, but just wanted to pop in and let you know I'll be thinking of you and hope the dizziness doesn't get worse. On top of being almost 9 months pregnant, low blood pressure is the last thing you want lol. Hope it's nothing.

Got much the same response too - and whatever it is its let up, so my BP is back to normal and I don't feel so fuzzy.

However .. being 37 weeks tomorrow, since I don't have high BP or swollen feet or anything interesting on that pee litmus test, now they're all interested in where bub's head is, so both the midwife AND doc had a good prod around looking for the head! Argh! Its right in my pelvis, jammed on my bladder, ok? Sheesh lol

Hi Rumpled Elf.. I am another one here suffering the same!!

I am 35 weeks, and i have been feeling the fuzzys for a week or so now. I also always have lower BP- which one Dr said they prefer to see than high BP.. but i dont know- is there a line where its too low??? I have almost the exact BP numbers as you!! My most recent was 95/70- like you i have no real idea what that means!! All i can suggest is rest when you can and drink lots of water- that seems to help me.

    Take care xox

Could it be low iron? I had severly low iron in the last few weeks...had to have jabs in the backside...had 5 over 3 weeks.....plus iron tablets. I also had very low BP, it wasn't very nice, I had no energy and was dizzy and the heat and dehydration didn't help....

    Hi there,

It sounds like a few things to me....

It could be a dip in low blood pressure.

When you have these phases...have you been laying flat on your back?

It could also be your body getting you ready for birth!! Endorphins being released making you feel all "druggy"! LOL!

Have you go those bags packed?!?!

Always when I was standing up, or walking around.

Bags are packed, bassinette is all made up, Child Elder has instructions on what to do if she comes home from school and we're off having babies, and the hospital says I'm fine to come in anytime now - before yesterday I would have been pre-term and would have had to be flown to Adelaide!

I'm in the same boat! I'm 35 weeks and am feeling fuzzy and dizzy too. I had it with DS too so have not been to concerned, Dr said it was low blood pressure. I get a lot of head rushes and have a hard time catching my breath. Can't wait to get this little one out!! Not long now for you, best of luck!
