help me get rid of this UTI

So about a week ago, maybe a little longer, I went into the birth suite which what appeared to be early labour pains. Turns out I have a nasty UTI which wasn't picked up as I had no symptoms. The last 3 days I have had horrible pain. It's a constant pain, and gets worse when my bladder is full and when I need to wee.
I'm on antibiotics still for another week, but I'm worried it's not getting better.
Any ideas on what else I can take to get rid of it? I thought I'd give the birth suite a call in the morning and see what they say.

I know you said it's worse when your bladder is full, but have you tried drinking loads of water? I used to get UTIs regularly & would drink lots of water until it was flushed out of my system.

Lots and lots of water. Cranberry Juice (if you can't stand straight cranberry, there's a really nice cranberry & raspberry juice)

As above - and if you struggle with cranberry juice you can get it in capsule form from a health food store in a decent dose. It lines the urinary tract and helps to prevent bacteria attaching to it from memory. Its a good preventative too

    I can sympathise

When I was pregnant I also had a nasty UTI which would NOT go away. I was doing everything, loads of water, cranberry juice, and taking ural (wee alkaliser). I ended up on 3 different types of antibiotics, only the last one worked. Being pregnant there were only certain things I could take, and because it wouldn't go away, I went back to the doctor and made them check WHAT bacteria it was so that the doctors could give me a drug that would actually help! Some bacteria isn't killed by the drug they usually give for UTI's apparently, so if it isn't going away, and you've been trying loads of things to help, then I say head back to the doc and ask them to send off a sample to pinpoint the bateria and kill it with the right (pregnancy friendly) drugs!

    Good luck....they are AWFUL!

I used to suffer really bad bladder infections years ago, i ended up seeing a urologist (sp) to help fix the problem (i was under his care fo almost 4 years).

Cranberry juice = awesome OR the tablets, as kelly mentioned
Ural - not sure if you can take this while pregnant or not though?
    heaappps of water.

And also make sure you keep good hygene. Wash your woman bits with a handshower, to get rid of any nasties that might be lingering down there. Wipe your bum away while doing a number two. 100% cotton undies to help that area breathe. Always go to the toilet to wee after sex. Use a hand shower again after sex.

Sounds so simple and obvious i know, but i swear following these rules changed my life... I was seriously at the doctors twice a week, getting more drugs... it was hell, so painful

I hope this helps, and i hope you start feeling better asap
    xx

Same thing happened with me. They probably have you on the wrong ABs. If they took urine then they should have cultured it so call up and check (or get your dr to do it). You would think that if they had given you the wrong ABs at the beginning then they would call you but it doesn't always happen. Hope you can get it sorted ASAP.

You can get dried cranberries as well which I'm sure would help too.
