12 week NT scan at Women's Imaging Centre, Freemasons Melbourne - anyone been there?
Hello!
We had our 12 week NT scan at the Freemasons (Women's Imaging Centre) last week and it wasn't really a great experience due to the doctors manner and the fact that the entire scan took 8 minutes. (A very expensive 8 minutes at $240!). While it was great that nothing was found to be wrong, we felt very rushed and quite unhappy about the whole thing. It also hurt alot and she was not apologetic for that (I was sore for 2 days following). I had heard from friends that generally their scans took 30-45 minutes and were very thorough, which was not our experience. I was wondering if anyone else had their 12 week scan there, if so how long did it take and was the experience a positive one for you?
Thanks,
Andrea.
At the 12 week scan they only have to check a few things; heartbeat and the NT measurement. If bubs is in a good position, an experienced sonographer is able to get the measurements pretty quickly. The 20 week scan is more detailed and takes longer so you should be able to get better look then.
It is unusual to be that sore after a scan. I would bring that up with the dr or midwife if you haven't seen someone about it yet.
