I work between 40 and 50. I have DS in the morning (6-12) and DH has him in the afternoon (12-7). He goes to kindy a couple of days a week. I have to lock myself away when working (I work from home) as DS always wants me to help if he can see me. It does get tiring but is worth the juggle for us.
Thanks Krysalyss- wow 50 hrs your wonder woman!
Im currently working 45hrs a week but im a single mumma, my parents have DS 3 days and xMIL has him 2 days and he has cc 1 day.
so im working half days on saturdays. Im just finding it hard to juggle sleepless nights, work and DS's needs plus my energy draining xp.
do you have any Tips lol?
I do about 30 hours a week - I teach swimming from 9-3 on Monday and the girls are at CC, I work 8 hours Tues, Thurs, Fri and they are with my mum or in CC those days. DP drops them off and picks them up from CC on Thurs/Fri as he leaves after me and is home before me on those days. I have a cleaner come in once a fortnight and my mum does our ironing once a fortnight when she is here. I'm not sure how I fit everything in to be honest, it just sort of happens.
I only do that much because I am doing my PhD and the work is always there waiting. The less work I do the longer it takes to finish. I don't get paid much as I am on a scholarship (my hourly rate works out to be around $7 a hour - ouch!) but I tell myself it is worth it in the long run.
I am the first to admit that I simply couldn't do it without my DH. And being pregnant as well wouldn't help your energy levels.
My only tips would be to ignore things that really don't need to get done (e.g. ironing). Do bulk meals so you can cook four nights worth in one go. Cut back on any spending that you really don't need to reduce how much you need to work. And I guess just try and remember that it won't be like this forever! Can you adjust your current job to make it easier (e.g. less standing or the option to work from home). Big hugs to you. You must be exhausted poor thing. Having your little one spend time with his extended family is great for him though.
Nai- sorry if this is rude but around about how much is a cleaner? I am simply not keeping ontop of all my housework and my house looks like a bomb has hit it because every morning i am in such a rush out the door, saying ill clean the house tonight and surprise surprise i never do!
Im thinking i might have to hire someone to help out.
krysalyss- the good thing atm is that when i pick DS up generally about 5.30 from whoevers house he is at for the day we both stay for dinner so im lucky enough not to have to cook. unfortunatly i cant work from home as i am a nutritionist at the hospital; i do get to sit down majority of the day but sometimes im walking/driving around to the other gp's/hospitals and its exhausting.
No problem - it does depend on the size of your house and what you want them to do etc but they can cost from $25 - $35 an hour normally (in Melbourne) if you use an agency. I just get mine in once a fortnight for 2 hours to dust, vac, mop and do the bathroom/toilet - it means I am able to stay on top of it rather than let it get out of control.
