I did a calmbirth course in narre warren and would thoroughly recommend it.
Her nme was Michele I will try to find the details for you. I think it was on Maramba drive (or rd or st..lol Im pretty sure of the maramba part though)
Hello Ladies,
I've been googling this afternoon pregnancy classes & calmbirth/hypnobirth.
I've not really had much luck except for a pregnancy yoga class near me.
I was wondering if there was anyone from my area who can recommend a good class, I'm open to any sort really so long as it will keep me healthy in the Berwick/Narre Warren and surrounding areas
I'm also considering doing calmbirth or hypnobirth classes and there seems to be heaps of them around, i'm willing to travel for these as they are usually done as full days by the looks of things. Who has done these classes, did you find them beneficial and is there a particular class you can recommend?
Thankyou for your help![]()

I haven't done it, but Inspire Physiotherapy in Beaconsfield does Pilates for pregnancy.
I've done the Inspire classes that HeathiePie mentioned. There are 2 types of classes - one straight pilates, and one cross training type thing, which combines low impact aerobics with pilates. I did both classes and found them both good. Oh, and because it's run by a physio, you can claim it on your health insurance.
Has anyone come across a local calm birth or hypnobirth class? I had an emergency cesarean last time after going to 8cm dilation due to foetal distress and am pregnant with my second now. Not that I think it contributed, but in retrospect I realise that I didn't really breath when I had a contraction and can't help thinking that I may feel more in control this time if I have some sort of strategy for getting through each contraction rather than just curling my toes up. I'm really hoping for a successful VBAC this time.
I also did a calmbirth class with a MW from Monask who takes the classes in Seaford!
I did a fantastic calmbirth class with the same midwife as Loula.....she is on the web under Lotus Calmbirth....her name is Lainey and she is awesome
Thanks for that info, I was wondering if you could let me know what the cost was. I'd love to do it but may need to go a different route if we can't afford it.
It was $380 for the two day weekend. Included the books and dvds as well in that cost.
Thanks for your help everyone. Melbel thanks, I think $380 is pretty reasonable for a whole weekend for a couple and then the resources on top of that. I had thought about getting a doula but the midwives were so fantastic where I was that I think this is a much better use of the money.
Babyluv thanks for the suggestion of the book - and sorry for hijacking your discussion!
No worries Heathiepie
