A poor little girl at DD's school....

I was told by some of the mums from DD's school that a little girl in grade 3 was rushed to hospital last week with a burst appendix.

The thing is that the school called an ambulance but the ambulance officers said she'll be fine with some pain killers as she just had a tummy ache & was constipated

Apparently her parents ended up taking her to the hospital when their instincts told them it was something worse than constipation.

How could the ambulance officers get it so wrong? That poor little girl would have been in so much pain, I've heard that it's unbearable pain

She's now home from hospital but is still recovering at home. I was so shocked to hear about this whole situation! I am only saying what I've heard as I wasnt there with them so cant say exactly what happened but if this is what happened then

So many people don't even think of appendicitis. When I was in year 7, I had such bad abdominal pain, but wasn't in tears - had to stop walking and let the pain pass, in class! Several people told me it was probably my periods getting started and also the neighbour told me when she was a girl the same thing happened to her - they thought it was her period but was appendicitis!

Thank god for parents intuition. Glad she is ok.

I know many a time when I followed my intuition when it comes to my daughter and it has paid off.

Thats terrible. Poor little poppit. Glad she is okay now. I am sure once the shock of it all wears off the parents will be furious.

Kelly- I was simialr to you, when I was in year 5 I was terribly sick with awful pains on my side, vomitting, all those sort of symptoms. Mum took me to a medical centre as it was a weekend and the doctor told mum that they thought I had phsycological problems. Mum's insticts knew this wasnt right as I had been in so much pain and took me to hospital and I had appendicitis or a rumbling appendix. What moron says a child has pshycological problems when they have only seen them once!!!
