    Will falling stop labour?

    Hi there

I'm 40+2 today, had my bloody show this morning (or at least part/most of it) as well as losing my mucous plug over the last 4/5 days.

I've had some slight pains and such this morning, either way labour is quite imminent. So I decided to have a shower a couple of hours ago.

When I went to step into the shower (it's a bath/shower) I slipped, smashed my left knee on the bottom, and my ankle on the side of the bath. Bub is fine, she's been moving around normally since, so I'm not concerned about her, but I was pretty shaken up.

I know stress can stop labour, so I got right out of the shower, got dressed and laid down for an hour or two... But do you think this could stop labour coming on?

    Thanks a lot

    Sarah

I'm not sure but how scary for you! Maybe you should call your hospital and chat to one of the midwives (if you're delivering at a hospital that is). They may want to check you out to be sure.

Good luck, it sounds like you'll be meeting your little girl soon!

Thanks Taurean, unfortunately I have issues with my hospital

I was in there on Monday, and in tears asked for an internal to which they pretty much told me "Hmm, no, don't think we will, see you later"... For a preggers girl with anxiety to blatantly ask someone to look inside her vagina and get turned down, pretty embarrassing...

Maybe, if you're really stressed. But I think if your baby is ready to come and labour is happening then not much is going to get in the way. I had a similar fall in labour- reached out for a rail in the middle of a contraction and fell onto my knee on the floor in a big heap. Massive bruise later but labour was unrelenting and the next contraction just came along as normal.

Keep resting and try to take care of yourself. Sounds like labour is slowly progressing and your body is getting ready. You're going to be great! Don't stress about your hospital. Stay home as long as you possibly can and you'll hardly need them or be in any state to care about them anyway

    Hi Mummy2b

Although your fall must have been a bit of a shock and your hospital is very inconsiderate this alone would not stop your labour.

    :yeahthat:

Hugs hon. Hopefully you get a really nice and helpful midwife when you deliver. I hope things really start happening for you soon so you can finally meet your bubba

Glad you and bub are ok

If you want to progress your labour then keep moving around. I dont think the fall would have stopped labour but maybe laying down relaxing would
MIL had me walking around the block once my labour started...lol
