just found out that im pregnant with no2. dd is 18months. How has everyone coped with being pregnant and looking after a toddler? They say you should lift heavy things, that pretty hard with changing nappies and washing hands. Toddlers get quite heavy!! any advice would be great!!!
I'm nearly 37 weeks with a 2.5yo toddler. He's getting a little heavy now and I encourage him as much as I can to stay on the ground but as Oorki said, you just do what you have to do.
Don't worry women are doing it everywhere, you'll be fine hon .
Having been pregnant while the first was a baby, and now while the other two are toddlers, I think it's actually easier when they're a little older. S was 9 months old when I became pregnant with T, and he didn't walk until he was 14.5 months... so lifting him was the only option if we wanted to get somewhere! You'll work out easier ways to do things. If your daughter is heavy, make sure you brace your pelvic floor muscles before you lift her down from places.
Fit in naps around your toddler. Take time out at the beginning when you're nauseous and exhausted. Start 'training' your little one to do things by herself now - I'm 'training' T to sit next to me for some cuddles instead of always launching herself onto my lap. It's early days yet, but I figure if I can get her into the habit of little things now, then it won't be a shock when she can't suddenly sit on me for a hug as there's a baby there, you know?
my son is 2 and im 17 weeks preg -
my gp told me not to lift mY son but that is just impossible and it really is useless advice!
i've just stuck with lifting him when i need to and try not to worry about it at all - just lift properly so you dont strain any muscles in the process. I've had to stop carrying him (mostly) unless it is 100% necessary.
Ive taught him to climb in and out of the car seat by himself so i only have to strap him in, moved him in to a toddler bed, so no more lifting in and out of cot, and I change his nappy on the floor.
speaking of being pregnant with toddlers - are you guys ExHaUsTeD!? I am! apart from the first few hours in the morning, im physically wrecked and just want to put my feet up and I have to have a nap when my son does (thankfully he still does nap!)
