    TMI but need to ask...

..is it normal to feel pain when using tampons? Have only had 2 periods since Moo was born but I couldn't use tampons - was just so uncomfortable and it hurt.
Previously it never bothered me, so should I see someone about this? Or is it going to get better with time?

I don't use them now. I think it takes a bit for the body to get used to it again - i know my mum uses them 5 kids later but i just prefer pads now.
I have some constipation issues though and tampons during my period just makes the pain from that worse.

I've had the same thing, dunno if it's normal or not, never thought to go to the doctor lol. Might ask next time I'm there...

It hurt me as well, i got AF back month 3 after DD was born and it really hurt me , i just felt like everything was still out of whack in there..I also had to move up a size in them as the smaller ones i was used to would not sit right anymore and that would cause pain

I was like Shell1, I found that at the beginning I had to go up a size, and the didn't feel the same.

I think it might be to do with skin still being stretched and a bit scarred, and also due to hormones (esp if you are b/f) meaning that you have less CM. I don't know if it would affect the absorbency of the tampon... and it might seem a bit odd... but a bit of lube might help?!

Hrm, I found the reverse (but only after baby #2) that I never used to like tampons but my period got a lot shorter and heavier I *had* to use them or I'd make a mess of stuff (bed at night mostly). I put it down to my cervix not being 100% closed after baby #2. Not really looking forward to AF coming back after baby #3 for the same reason. I guess there's always menopause to look forward to

As to tampons and lube, IMHO they do hurt for that reason, and I've heard using lube suggested before for this so I'd give that a go.

    I'm Kind of the same...

I used to use tampons, however now I find they're uncomfortable, so now prefer pads.
Its a shame because I feel 'cleaner' when I use tampons.

I cann't really use them anymore - but then I now have a prolapsed uterus: not only is it now painful and uncomfortable, they no longer do the job properly.

Thankyou everyone for sharing, I feel normal again!
I'm still BF and never thought how that would still be affecting things down there - guess it's pads for the time being. I too feel cleaner with tampons though.
