Pus draining from ear

DD2 19 months and has grommets.
she currently has a cold and ive just noticed she has pus draining from one ear
now shes had a temp from sunday til today, though its barely there now, im trying to get a dr's appointment and i know its better thats is draining. but ifi can get an appointment how serious is this??
obviously the grommets are doing there thing!

It is almost certainly just an ear infection. She will most likely be prescribed some abx to help it clear up, but if her temp is shifting and the pus is draining then it sounds like her body (and the grommets) are working well, and you might be ok to avoid the abx.

thanks darl, shes on abs and ear drops and he took a swab, pretty much a burst eardrum but grommet style!

Urgh.... when I got grommets I was 27 and I had an ear infection start the next day. It was the worst pain, I remember laying in bed crying... I had to have the ear packed and massive amount of antibiotics. Basically, yep the grommets are doing their job, but you still have to be wary, I reckon if the temp doesn't go down in 24 hours, its something you may need antibiotics for.
