    Massive rash!

    Hey everyone,

    Hopefully someone can help me!

After returning from Melbourne on Wednesday I noticed that I had a small rash on my chest. It didn't bother me at all, no itching or anything.
The next night it had spread to my shoulders, all my chest (excepts my breasts) down my sides to my hips, shoulder blades, all down my arms and on my hands. It looked like a billion little pin priks. Because it had spread so much and was extremely red I went up to outpatients at the local hospital. (there's only 500 people in town, so a pretty small hosp where I know all the nurses by first names and they know me well). The div 2 nurse had a look at said that it looked like an allergy and because I wasn't in distress I could go home and make an appointment to see the dr in the morning.
Friday morning came and although the rash has still there it looked fine. No inflamation at all and not even the slightest bit red. So I didn't bother about the dr.
DP is a ranger for the national park and he had a presentation friday night, so I went out to the Park with him to help him set up and see it. (it beats staying home alone too!!). Presentation ended and got back to the office around 9.30.
My arms itched so I rolled up my sleeves and noticed that the rash was back and extremely inflamed. DP finished doing what he had to and we started back on the way home which takes half an hour. Got home and the rash was getting redder and redder and as itchy as hell!!
To see how far it stretched DP made me take off my shirt. From behind me I got an "oh my god".

So! Back to outpatients we went. It was about 11pm now. Saw the div 2 nurse who immediately got the div 1. She made me take off my shirt and got an "oh my god" as well!! They asked me a million questions because they thought it could be an allergy.
They were completely stuck as to what it was. They tried different stuff on it to take the inflammation out of it and all they could put on it, because everything else reacted, was Mylanta. It didn't help tho.
I was also shaking and my blood pressure was 133/78. Last time I got it taken it was 104/63.
I was sent home and told to return the next morning for blood tests to looks for allergies and anything abnormal. They also did different tests looking for viruses.
I was given some safe anti-histamines and calamine spray.

Everything came back normal and the rash is gone.

    I have no answers.
    Any ideas??

Not sure how pregnant you are Charlotte, but if you are later it could be either PUPPS or obstetric cholestasis.....but a rash could be lots of things. Best to see a GP or Ob asap.

I agree that it would be best to go and see your GP asap. It needs to be sorted asap to make sure both you and bub are ok

After I got blood taken on Saturday I saw the Dr. Talked to her and all she could do is ask a few questions, have a look (again, the rash wasn't inflammed that morning) and listen to bub's heartbeat. My blood pressure was back down to 120/73.

All blood screenings have come back normal. No allergies, white blood cells normal, all the viral tests came back normal.

Maybe just keep an eye on it then and if it starts flaring up again head straight back. Always scary when you don't know what is going on and you have a bub on board.

    Yeah, it was pretty scary!

Also, I forgot to mention that I was 23 weeks pregnant when this was going on.
    24 weeks now!
