Ok this is sort of a poll, just cos I'm interested (and obviously bored and don't feel like cleaning the house).
I've heard that you carry your babies like your MIL (ie, similar type of pregnancies) and labour like your mother.
Its true in my case, I don't get morning sickness - my mum did with all 3 of us, and my MIL never got morning sickness in her 3 pregnancies.
My mum went overdue with all of us, except for me cos they were expecting her to go over so she was induced on my due date. I went 2 weeks over with DD1 and 12 days over with DD2.
She had short labours, 6 hours, 2 hours, and 3 hours. My "first" real labouring experience with DD2 was about 4-5 hours in active labour (hard to know when "active" labour started).
My MIL on the other hand, went for days labouring with her first.
nope, my mother had no long latent stage of labour and long active labours. I always have a very long latent stage and early braxton hicks.
My MIL sailed through her pregnancies with good health, I was crippled by SPD. I also carried much larger children than she did, despite her being almost a foot taller than me.
Hmm, not sure what type of pregnancy or labour my mum and mil had, but I do know that my mum gave birth to three 7 pound or less bubbas, and my mil birthed two 10 pounders, and my DD was 10p4o. So I guess you can say that I carried like my mil.
Interesting thread AE, gonna have to have a chat with them both about their pregnancies and labour.
I almost forgot, I got hit by the most debilitating tiredness when I was pregnant, which my MIL found hard to understand but my sister and mum both understood as they suffered from it too. MIL worked up to 8 months pregnant and my family all had to stop working by around 5 months due to exhaustion.
Nup my MIL had shocking m/s with both babies, I had none. Se said she had 9 1/2 months of it with SIL!!!
My mum had a really really long and slow labour with me and fast with my brother but as I was induced 2 out of 3 times with mine I can't really compare. My mum had both my brother and I on our due date though and my only natural birth was on her due date too!
MIL had bad morning sickness with DH (only child). Ive had none with all 3 pregnancies.
Mum had short labours.. only an hour or 2. My first was 11 hours, second was 16.5 hours. Mum's labours got shorter each child (3) mine.. so far.. have been longer. Mum went into labour before her due date with all 3.. ive always been over.
I have never asked my MIL about her pregnancies TBH but I do know that all the Mrs X (X= married surname here) that have lived in the family home have ALL lost a baby 3 were 20-25 weekers and 2 born sleeping.
My mother had relative short labours I think I recall her saying I was 3 hours and my brother was 5-6 hours.
I am the only one who has had a silent labour up until contrax started at 5 min apart??
MIL is passed so i didn't get to ask her what her pgs were like
mum never had much MS though - i had it up until DD was born
mum went 3+weeks post dates with my bro, and was induced with me - her labour with my bro was fairly mundane (when it finally started), with me it took days to establish. that bit sounds familiar to me lol
Not sure on labours as both my mum and MIL had c-sections. But my mum was 3 weeks overdue with me and 3 out of 4 times ive been at least a week over. MIL had DH 2-3 weeks early and he was breech. So doesn't really ring true for me.
Not in my case. Neither of mine had ms, or went overdue. I had severe ms til 20 weeks 3 times out of 4.
My mum thinks she had spd with her 3rd though, & I got it first time with DS, my 3rd. Mine & mum's first 2 labours were similar lengths, but thats about it.
ok well i cant be anything like my mum as she had a double uterus and cervix so had c/s coz she cant give birth naturally and mil i dont really know all i know is her labour with DH was 5 hours and mine was a lot longer than that lol but we did start with our waters breaking
