want to try BLS, give me ideas!!

DS has been on solids for a little while now and loves his food (he's on 3 meals a day and hasn't dropped any bf's). I tried DD on finger foods at around the age he is now, the only difference is she had 4 teeth and DS has none! I gave him a cruskit the other day which he loved, but I want some more ideas that are simple for me to make and simple for him to gum on.

    TIA

DD has no teeth either! We've only just started to get her to swallow things properly, after about 6 weeks of BLS.
Boiled sweet potato went down well with DD, was the first thing she actually swallowed properly.
I'd roast a bit of potato, pumpkin, squash, just anything that can be cooked softly, but maintain it's shape to hold.
DD likes custard apple too, and chunks of avocado, oh and banana, and those Laughing Cow cheese triangles.
    Good luck!

toast & vegemite, fingers of cooked vegies (carrot, zucchini etc), banana. Most things they are pretty proficient at 'gumming' so it doesn't matter too much if he has no teeth yet. DD had no teeth when we started solids (she got her first tooth at around 9 months, so had already been eating for about 3 months with no teeth).

I started DS on slices of soft pear, cooked apple, cooked carrot - about chip sized so he could hold it in his fist with a bit poking out. I give him porridge - you can either load up a spoon & hand it to him or make it thick and put spoonfulls on a plate or high cahir tray for him to pick up.

Yeah, we have toast, cucumber, broccoli, carrot, apple, pear, banana, baby corn cobs, capsicum so far. We're in the early stages though so many of those things have just been thrown over the edge of the high chair

Just make sure they are in sticks so that bubby can hold on to them well!

    Thanks for the ideas
Quick q - if you do vegie fingers, do you cook them as needed or make a batch up and store them some how? Having to deal with getting the family dinner ready, I want low fuss stuff!

I just steamed mine in the microwave, only took 30 seconds or so. You can also cook them then freeze them, then just defrost in the microwave when you need them. The 'wetter' vegies like zucchini can go a bit soggy, but it worked really well for potato/sweet potato etc.

I always cook up a few extra in case we are eating something DD can't have, and either store them in the fridge or freeze them. The watery vegies are shocking when defrosted though so I don't tend to freeze them. The beauty of BLS though is that bub can usually join in with whatever the family is eating, which makes it not just low fuss, but no fuss

I just worked in to our meals something DS could have also - so you're all eating together. It's a lot easier that way.

Cooked pasta is great for them to hold I gave my DD lasagna the other night and she loved it. You can always make a pureed vegie 'sauce' to go on it if you want to introduce more veg.
