    How long...........

    To loose this extra weight???
    A rhetorical question of course.

It might help if I stop buying and eating crap all the time. I'm going through a packet of biscuits a day! Today I added two muffins to that list!!

I need to start eating better again like while I was pg. I would like to loose 17kg!! Pre baby weight.

Please can you give me any tips? What did you snack on when hunger strikes?

I'm trying to walk with the pram every day

    If you are breastfeeding

If you are breast feeding it will fall off, if not I suggest relaxing it will naturally come off over around six months after birth if you eat right

    Another one here,

I put on 20kgs with this pregnancy (sounds huge, but not like the 40+kgs I put on with Luke )
I've lost 11kgs and got 9kgs to go to get to pre pregnancy weight, then another 6kgs to get to where I was pre the IVF cycle
    Damn Progesterone medications

The breastfeeding is definately helping... just slowly, slowly... not fast enough for my liking
Dr S told me 'Now, no stupid shake diets or anything ridiculous while you're breastfeeding'... so there's my excuse for no dieting, lol!

It will start to come off soon - mine didn't start until about the 2 month mark.
Drink your water & keep walking - that and the BF will do heaps... summer coming will help too

For many breastfeeding mums the weight falls off easily, but not for all.

When you find out Lou let me know! I was only back to something close to my pre pg weight just before I fell pg with DS2! And I only put on 2kgs during his pg, so I'd like to know why the hell I'm so fat now??? LOL

Breast feeding is not a sure fire way to lose weight it does not always happen that way.
everyone is different and lose weight at different times, you cant put an exact time frame on it

It can be hard and i know about the eating crap its so easy to do when you are a busy mum, take your time, walk with the pram, its good for you and bubs, eat well when you can, drink lots of water, just be easy on yourself it will happen it time.do not try and push yourself if you are not ready ifkwim xx

Re snacks, I recently discovered the Coles brand organic sweet and salty popcorn! So yummy! I usually have this for afternoon tea, and a kiwi or banana for morning tea. I also try to have my meals and snacks at the same time each day, and don't leave more than 3 hours between eating.

I gained 8kgs after birth(!) thanks to eating what I wanted with the excuse that I was breastfeeding, you still need to be careful from my experience. An additional 500 calories is all you need. Try tracking what you are eating through calorie king or my fitness pal for a few days and you will get the idea of what you actually need sticking to it us the hard part though!

Yes I am bfing. My problem I think is my water intake. I've been terrible some days only having a few glasses of water. This I know I must make an effort with.

    Ok step 1- more water!

I lost my pg weight fairly quickly - about 6 months (i didnt gain too much though) but my body didn't look the same Everything seemed softer and saggier. That said, I wasn't that crash hot in the body dept before I was pg either!!! (my regular weight is about 68-70kg)

I found i often did not have time to drink much water. Or i would sit down to feed DD and then go bugger i am thirsty and by the time i was finished i had someting else to do u know.
Try taking a bottle with you all the time, put one where you feed, in the pram, car bubs room..So you always have some handy

I disagree with this! I have been eating healthy and breast feeding and the weight is not falling off!

I'm still battling with the last 3kg!

Increasing your water is a good idea Loula, sounds like you're on the right track getting out in the pram. If you find any other magical answers, let me know!!

if you find out, let me know too...I still don't think I've lost any weight since having DD
I walk every day, sometimes twice. I walk everywhere because we live a block from the main street so I don't have to drive to the shops. I still eat fairly terribly, but am trying to be better (chocolate keeps getting the better of me...). Try not to stress about it too much, it does get a bit easier to exercise as they get older (as long as you don't have a velcro baby like me. Lol) and I'm hoping once DD is walking on her own then we can run around outside. I'd just really like to get rid of my 6 months pregnant look...which I'm not!

Loula, a few glasses of water a day isgreat. You dont need to drink that much more when BF.

I was eating junk in those early mths too. Once DD was 12mo i started eating better while bf and weight just. Fell off!

Hrm, I'm one of the 'it falls off' people. I've gained around 20-25kg each pregnancy, lost it in 6 months with the first and with these two I'm making an effort to lose it more slowly. So I'm eating approximately the same as what everyone else in this house eats - combined. My normal weight hovers around 53-55kg so 20kg is a pretty massive gain for someone that size.

Snacks ... hrm. Cheese, chocolate, homemade cake and cupcakes and biscuits, dried fruit, popcorn, raisin toast. I'm tracking the weight loss by inches rather than kilos, I've dropped from needing an elastic waisted stretchy size 12 to a generous (but not stretch) size 10 in jeans so far lol. A regular size 10 jeans I couldn't get past my thighs a few months ago, now I just can't do it up But we shall not speak of the breastfeeding boobs. Absolute hell finding anything that looks good with those.

I put on about 30kg with DS. I decided I wouldn't worry about my weight until DS was at least 6 months old. I still had days where I was all "OMG I still look pregnant!" but it took 9 months to put it on and we need to be gentle with ourselves. As I naturally lost weight, I'd try to budget for a few tops to wear out. It made me feel better about my body to put on something new that fitted my changing shape better. They were only ever from Kmart or BigW but I was only wearing them for such a short time I didn't care.

That being said I remember being very pleased I could do up a pair of pre DS jeans when he was 4 months old. So with BF, trying to do a pram walk everyday and eating normally it was still coming off slowly! I try to be careful because I can easily eat an entire block of chocolate in one go if I give myself the opportunity! I don't keep sweet biscuits in the house anymore because I know I'll just keep eating til they're gone.

My tips would be to have a drink of water when you feel like snacking, often I'm snacking because I'm actually bored. Try not to keep your 'bad' foods in the house if you can't be trusted to stop (like me lol!), have one day a week where you don't think about calories etc and have some treats, try to go for a walk everyday, meal plan so you're not resorting to take away, have some fruit cut up ready to go so you can easily grab something to nibble on if you need it, try to eat breakfast as it really makes a difference.

Other than that, be kind to yourself as it hasn't been that long since you had DS. Good luck on the weight loss, you've been given some good tips!
