Question How many naps for an 11mo?

    Hello girls,

Just wanted to ask, how many naps and for how long are your 11mo babies sleeping now?

Cole is still having a 1hr nap in the morning and 2.5hrs nap after lunch roughly. From memory Lucy had already cut down to just 1x 2hr nap by this age, but Coleman seems to be a much sleepier baby. How about you?

    Hope you're all well

Both of mine were down to 1 nap a day around that age.

Mum said I still had 2 naps a day til I started Kindergarten, and so did my brother.

Also most of the mums at my ABA group say their kids have 2 naps til about 2 years old, but all kids are different, some will only need one.

Zander was having 2 x 1.5hr naps up until last week & now seems to want 1 x 2-3hr nap only now. I don't think it's a problem at all.

    It really varies, I reckon.

A GF of mine: her GP who specialises in sleep patterns in babies claims all babies should have 2 naps until they are 18 months.......and Olivia fitted in with this no problem......she used to ahve 2 x 2 hours at 17 months and then bang on 18 months went to 1 sleep of her own accord.

Charlie, at only 10 months, is perfectly happy (ie never gets grizzly or yawny or upset) if he just has one nap......(he sometimes has 2, sometimes just 1 nap, depending on what our day is like.)

I reckon just take his signs: if he still needs/wants/enjoys two nice naps, go for it.........

Matilda went to one nap a day at 13 months when we were at a sleep school. At that time I told the nurses that was what I thought was happening & they kept saying it was heaps young to go to one nap a day. But in the end, Matilda won . I say like Lucy, go with the signs and watch him. If he needs it, he will keep sleeping. Otherwise, Matilda went from having a normal nap in the morning to not sleeping during her afternoon naps at all... and thats when we tried to keep her up in the morning & let her only have one nap. She did much better for it.

Caz, it can depend on the day and what after school activities DD has on. Some days Blake has two sleeps approx 1.5 hours about 10/10.30am and then another a 45min nap around 4.30pm to get him through to bed time. Other days when we have stuff on, I keep him up a bit longer and he goes down around 11/11.30am for approx 2.5-3 hours

Milly hardly naps at all, for example today she got up at 6.45, had half an hour nap at about 2.30 and is still awake now at 8pm. Sometimes she has a bit more down time, as she tends to power nap in the car, but we usually find that George sleeps more in 24 hours even though he's 2 years older.

My DS sleeps thru from 7.00pm to 7.00am. I find it so hard to get him to have a nap. He used to have at least one daily nap, after his lunchtime bottle, but now he has worked out that the bottle puts him to sleep and pushes it aside when he gets tired, so that he doesnt nod off! Some days he may sleep for 1/2 hour at the most. I wish he would sleep for 2 hours a day! Then I could get some house work done!! I figure if they need it they will sleep and will sleep as long as they need! IYKWIM.
