So, this morning at 3 something am DS starts yelling out to me. I go in there for him to tell me he's sick. I get a towel just in time tto catch the vomit. Great. He's hot & fevery & I'm guessing hasn't wee'd overnight, coz he'd normally take his nappy straight off.
Start to settle him, DD3 wakes up. Feed her, settle DS again, then DD decides the wind is too much, but she doesn't want to burp, so we sit, rocking & patting... for over 2 hours! FINALLY at 6am she's just closed her eyes...
On top of all that (probably TMI, but I'm too tired to care), after wearing pads for the last 2 weeks, I think I'm getting thrush... joy! & there's a thick fog outside (we live on the beach people!!), which I'm guessing means cold & wet day ahead, yet again.
What now???
I've been really worried about the older kids bringing something home to DD3 & have avoided leaving the house JIC, but its here anyway! I don't get it! I haven't been anywhere since c'link on Monday. Noone else is sick. How the hell did this germ get into my house??
And how to I keep it away from DD3????? I survived DD2 having rota virus at 4 months, but DD3 is way, way too young to have gastro!
Help me? How do I avoid her getting it? What do I do if she does get it?? I've been stressing about this for the past 2.5 hours...
Keep wasing everyones hands hun, and no kissed or cuddles frm the other kiddos, and maybe dnt kiss her urself JIC, hard i know.
i dnt have any other advice, just keeping my fingers crossed noone else gets it
xxxx
Skybie is right. Limit contact between the sick children and everyone else. Wash or alcohol gel everyone's hands religiously. Don't give your baby any toys or objects to play with that have been handled by the other children without being disinfected first.
I think its too late. I think she has it. I dunno, the vomit she just did wasn't your usual baby chuck. It kept going. I dunno how do describe it.
The whole feed came up, over about 30 seconds & wasn't fresh, even though she'd just fed.
Do I worry? Or do I wait it out for a bit?
If you are able to, I'd make an appointment to take her to the Dr just in case. Go with your instinct - if you think it's not a "normal" vomit, get her checked out. Hope she doesn't have it, and that the others recover quickly.
I totally feel for you right now as we had similar antics overnight with DS. I have anxiety towards him throwing up so that doesnt help at all. I really dont want DD to get it either, she hasnt had any signs yet THANK GOODNESS! But when DD was only a month old DS had a severe bout of gastro (i even suspect rota virus). DD thankfully didnt get it and i just made sure i used the detol hand sanitizer and hand wash religiously, especially when touching her or doing anything for her, feeding etc. Today i have been spraying the house with Glen 20 and spray and wiping everything in hope to kill any bugs. I have also constantly been putting the detol hand sanitizer on DD & DS's hands. I have the doors and windows open too to air the place out. So i think thats all you can really do and just try and keep DS away from your DD.
As for washing clothes etc.. i picked up some Detol in the wash stuff you put into your laundry to kill germs. So have been washing DS's sheets, clothes and anything he touched last night with that.
Hope for you and us that is just stops at our DSs.
Thanks guys.
Yeah, been doing what I can. She seems ok now, though he's still pretty sick. Poor bubba.
I use dettol in the wash with DD's stuff anyway & have been adding an anti bacterial solution today as well.
I just hope it all stays with DS & doesn't spread to the older girls. DH has them out for the day fishing, so we might be lucky. Guess we'll know by tomorrow.
Alcohol hand wash in every room! Evidence that it's loads better than soap and water. No point in extra worry. Cross each bridge when and IF you come to it. Good luck
