Newbie seeking support and guidance for my vbac dream
Hi ladies.
I'm Kylie, a 28 year old mother of two darling little boys, one of whom was a vaginal birth, the other an 'elective' c-section for 'suspected macrosomia'. Basically my first son caused a bit of damage on the way out as he was posterior - but I now know it was more than likely due to the cycle of intervention, ie. had started to labour myself at 40+7, but it 'wasn't regular enough' for my ob - hence the gel, then the syntocin, and the constant monitoring, and the labouring on my back even though he was posterior and all I wanted to do was labour on all fours ... you know how it goes.
Then my ob scared me with the second, 'it looks like a big one, you don't want to tear again, you can have him earlier' ... blah blah blah ... he was born 500g lighter than my first, not that it would have made a difference if I'd been allowed to listen to my own body, but I digress.
I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant with our third, a suprise bundle but very much wanted all the same. I've hired a doula and will be birthing at Caboolture public, as I work with some of the midwives there. They have all been very supportive of a VBAC, but the doctors are insisting on constant monitoring, blah blah blah.
I guess what I'm looking for at the moment is just to hear some inspirational stories of successful and not-so-successful VBACs and to just feel like I have made the right decision to go down the VBAC path.
I don't think anyone can tell you if you are on the right path - either you feel that you want to go for a VBAC or you want a repeat c-section I knew that I didn't want another c-section after my second one, and had a successful VBA2C nearly a year ago.
I think as you have hired a doula, you are definitely on the right track.
have to agree with Mel on this one....no one can tell you if you are on the right path...only YOU will know....
hiring a doula is definatly on the way to being on the right path
i have had 3 c-sections and plan on having a VBA3C next time round (no matter what my hospital says!!!) i will also be hiring a doula and right now i am in the major research mode....readin reading reading, printing & highlighting
