    breastfeeding, pcos and provera

    hey ladies!
I was hoping someone could help me?
I have PCOS, am breastfeeding my 10 month old.. only twice maybe 3 times a day.. (going about 13 hours a night without breastfeeding) And still dont have AF!
Was wondering If any of you ladies have been put on progesterone to bring on af whilst breastfeeding? and If i worked? I am currently on my 3rd pay 1 10mg twice a day.
    Thankyou girls!

Are you planning to TTc, is that why you want af to return?
How long has it been since you dropped down to this many feeds? It can take 2-3 months before af returns after cutting back to this level. I'd want to give it at least this much time before taking anything to bring on af - the provera won't return you to fertility, it'll just make you bleed.
There are a few women for whom af will not return till they wean completely, however.

    Thanks Girlies!
Yea we are wanting to sart ttc but We cant realy start trying untill i have some sort of sign my fertility is commin back. I though i would start the provera to see if it would kick start things.. BUT my son and i have fallen sick so he has been breasfeeding alot more in the day. we have dropped the feeds for about 2 months now. I just really wanted two children close together, but i dont want to stop breastfeeding because DS gets so much comfort from me... and i have to love for the now right?

Ah, well, maybe wait till the illness has passed then see where you're at.
It can be a tough decision to make
Like I said, I don't think the provera will kick-start your cycles if breastfeeding is keeping ovulation at bay. It might be worth giving the ABA a call and see what they say.

Thanks sweetie! Yea i spoke to my doc and he said i would be contradicting the two hormones as the breastfeeding is acting as a natural contraceptive and the progesterone would make me bleed.. BUUUTTT i thought i would give it ago anyway.. we will see what happens in a few days time to see if af comes.. Even if it does come at least i can look at it like a "clean out" and if nothing comes of it then i know well and truley i have to let nature take its course.. or wait till we completely stop breastfeeding (which doesnt look like anytime soon).
