Can you get mobiles that clip onto bassinets?

    Hi all,

We're going to be putting bubs into a bassinet at first and the one we have only one one very bland looking soft toy hanging from the canopy. Everything I've read and learned (including at university) has told me that its important for baby to have a colourful mobile as it helps development etc.

Tbh I want one anyway, even if no-one agrees with what I've said above.

Do mobiles clip onto bassinets in the same way they clip onto cots? Or am I basically looking for something I won't find? Do some clip onto both and others only clip onto one or the other? I've done a google search but it hasn't shed any light at all!

    Thanks

I think sids and kids OR Kidsafe recommend not to have mobiles on the cot or bassinette? Can't quote where I read it, but in the last two weeks I saw it somewhere.
Better to hang it from the ceiling, or have it over the change table, or even elsewhere in the room, baby will still get that same stimulation from it.

Have you thought about making one? There ar some lovely ideas out there for doing it yourself.

Thanks Audax - we might have to go without then! We're moving to the UK when she's 9 weeks old so baby's furniture is literally a bassinet in our room. No change table, can't hang anything from the ceiling, no nothing. It's going to be an interesting time, that's for sure! It's good to have that information though, because I honestly had no idea. I think I'll ahve to do some further reading. Thanks!

You can still hang something from the ceiling though, surely? We're in a rental, and we just use those 3M hooks, we've got one holding up the mozzie net over our bed. So if you really wanted to, you could.
Alternatively, just use an activity gym, and give her plenty of other stimulation. She will be fine.

I was given one that clipped onto whatever you liked. Look around, I'm sure you'll find one if you still want it.
