Miss J (2yrs 3months) is toilet training. She seems to be doing really well during the day but i'm really unsure what to do at night time.
She is recognizing that she had done a wee AFTER she has done it in her nappy and will come out from bed numerous times wanting a new one on. During the day she can usually get to the potty before hand but night time she doesn't.
What do I do? Put her in undies with the plastic on the bed and hope for the best (i'll be up changing sheets all night...) or leave her with the nappy I really don't know....
Please help me...
Definitely leave it a little longer to night train her, it sounds like she isn't quite ready for that yet. I'd wait till she's having a few totally dry nights before taking her out of nappies. What you can do to help her is really reduce the amount she drinks at night time - just small drinks of say 2-3 mouthfuls and then make her go to the loo right before you put her into bed before you pop her night nappy on. When we were ready for night training, I did what Rivlas did - get them up and pop them on the loo when I go to bed (which isn't till late anyway) and we'd never had a problem.
Leave her in nappies until she is dry. Please don't get disgruntled if your DD takes ages to night train either. My DD1 was fully day trained by 2 and didn't night train until she was 4yo. I tried everything from limiting fluids, to getting her up late, taking off her nappy and letting her wet etc. In the end I gave up and she woke up one day and told me she doesn't need a pull up anymore because she will go all by herself. She has never had an accident and she takes herself off to the loo if she needs to.
Google continence, I found a website which helped immensley. It is very normal not to be night time toilet trained until 5yo. Another great bed tool is the brollysheet.
Sunshine, I found my little girls didn't like to be put in nappies after day-toilet training because they were 'big girls', So I bought pull-ups & called them Night Time Knickers. This worked a treat for them, because they weren't nappies as such, but they still kept the sheets dry if there were accidents. HTH!
Plus, I would put them on the loo right before bed & then I would get them up again when I went to bed, around 10pm, for another wee & this usually did the job. Accidents were rare.
Yep we did the "night time nickers" as well. But they had to be the pull up style or our DD complained it was a nappy and cracked it. It only took about 3 months and she was night trained as well. Our DS on the other hand took almost 12 months to night train. Hang in there
