    Baby monitor with camera

Hi guys. My girlfriend swears by here baby monitor as it has a camera that has night vision and she can always see bubs. This in Canada though and I have done a little bit of research here and seen that they have one or two..

Has anyone used any? What is the good brand?

    Thanks. : )

Is bubs room going to befar away from yours?
Is bub going to be sharing a room withyou?

Just make sure you really need one first cpz they can be pretty $$$

But if you do want one, there is heaps on the market, good luck

    Hi there,

Bubs will be in their room, not far from us but we have a pool/bbq entertaining area and when we are outside is more what I am worried about. We have a weird set up as our house was built in 1979 and thought having the monitor would provide some peace of mind.
Seen the prices though and you are sooo right. Bloody pricey. I think it would be cheaper to get a monitor and camera from a security place.. Lol. We shall see. : )

Not sure about the ones with the camera, but I know lots of girls on here swear by the sound and movement ones that have pads underneath bubs. I have a regular sound one with a red light - we still use it now and I like that even if I have the sound off I can use the light. Not too sure about a video one, seems a bit OTT to me, and I am about as paranoid a mother as you can get but that's just MHO. I also think it would depend on how big your house is. At our old place I didn't even use the monitor because I didn't need to when her door was open. Good luck searching! One other thing I would make sure is that it is a multi-channel one so that if you get interference you can change it over.

We have an agent DECT one and it's awesome. Spent $150 from **** smiths and it's range is 330m which is perfect for going thru th 5 or 6 walls between our room and DS without having any interference. There is no camera on it but I think personally you don't need it.

Thanks guys. I am still stuck on the camera idea as I remember with dd. I hated hearing her but not seeing what she was up to... and did not want to go in every 2 minutes. I might just do a bit more research and find someone who has one before deciding. Thanks ; )

    hi
we used a monitor sensor monitor when bub was very young (more peace of mind for me) but as he got older and starting moving about the cot the sensor pad would go off cos he wasn't sleeping over it.

So i pulled out the video monitor DH had bought of zazz.com.au or dealsdirect or one of those bargain sites. It only cost about $40 i think and the camera is a flower that you just clip near the cot. and it's infrared - so sees in the dark and light.

I have found this a very very education tool to see what my little manipulator is doing!!! ie crying blue murder while bouncing up and down and waving his sooky rag above his head in a carefree manner... crying, stopping, looking at the door, crying, looking at the door... hmmm!

It has certainly changed the way i deal with bub and I find it interesting how he puts himself to sleep now! he bounces, and calls out and talks and carries on for ages then all the sudden is asleep. Before the monitor i would have been going in there ocnstantly and disturbing him, now i steer clean unless he is really calling for me.

Personally I love my monitor BUT we didn't pay a fortune and it's one of those things that once you've used it you'd miss it but if you never had it, then it's easy to live without.

i've seen them in the shops for $300 or more - I wouldn't buy one for that price!

our brand is swann - it's not flash, just monitor and sound. but does the job.
    h that helps.

Thanks grub. You just pointed out another reason why I wanted it too. I am going to look at getting one cheap from America as that seems my best bet atm. Still looking, thinking and deciding though. Thanks heaps. : )

tams - dh just said if you get one from america make sure the transformer/power supply is combatible with our 240v system and if it doesnt come with an adapter you'll need one of those as well (our system has two power supplies - one for the camera and one for the base unit).

    glad i could help
