Question Ok, so i bought a KA - which attatchements do i need?

I bought my KA today, got the Boysenberry one! I am so in love
Its for my 30th birthday but dh said i could start using it straight away :P
My parents and sisters are going to buy me the attatchments i want but after looking at them all i'm a little bit overwhelmed and confused.
I want to be able to slice and grate and shred and stuff
I would like to make pasta but there are so many different combinations
I am def getting the ice-cream one
I would like to grind meat also

So if anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it. I have 3 months before my actual b'day so a good amount of time to play around with it first.

What ones do you have and what would you recommend i get?

TIA - now i just have to think of a name for her and make room on my bench to display her loveliness

Congrats on your purchase, I LOVE my KA and I don't actually have any of the attachments. But, I have seen them in the US while on holiday and they are loads cheaper over there so seeing as you have time on your side and the AUD is strong maybe shop around online and compare prices. Enjoy your KA, mine sits in pride of place on the bench too

I love the 3 piece pasta set. I can make 500g fresh pasta in 15 start to finish including making dough (if I let it rest then obviously longer).

I also really love the mincer, I keep meat in the freezer (flat pieces) that I know I can mince easily and if I forget to lift something out I can slice up the frozen meat and let it sit for 10 minutes then mince as it's best to mince meat partly frozen.

I love the ice cream bowl, it lives in my freezer. And the bowls you freeze are actually quicker than the machine ones (ie. cuisinart) as it's already at desired temp.

I have the rotor shredder slicer that comes with the mincer/strainer accessory pack and I have used both this rotory slicer and the one with the small drums I prefer this one. I find the casing to be a lot more sturdy. The only downfall is you don't have the huge array of extra drums that you do with the small drums, but to be honest the drums it comes with is perfectly fine for me.

I am going to have a play with the Pasta Press this week, but I know Christy has used it and loves it.

If you have any questions feel free to send them mine or Christy's way

Can I just say a big Congratulations on you purchase and I'm another one that is soo jealous.

Although I have heard that there price has just gone up so I'm tempted to convince DH that I need one for Christmas as they are only going to get dearer. (my problem is I just can't pick a colour???)

Anyway orginal question I can't really help as I don't have one yet, but the pasta one sounds good, I guess if you think you will be into making our own pasta

    Oh congrats hun! How exciting!

DH wants to buy me one for my bday... where did you buy yours from MrsB26?
We went to House at Charlestown but they only had black & red. I really want a silver or white one.

    Congratulations! I'm super jealous!
Everyone and anyone who listens to me is sick and tired about me going on and on about the KA. The purple one in particular.

Lisa, check out Peters of Kensington. They have KAs for $632 plus delivery.

I'm hoping I've been extra good this year and Santa (i.e DP) buys me one.

    Enjoy your new KA!

Thanks ladies for all your jealousy

Rouge - thank you, i'll def just get the 3 peice pasta set. There are so many different slicer ones but the one you have sounds just like what i want. Its a shame they're so expensive which is why i want to make sure i get the one i really want. I didnt know about the ice cream attatchment being better than the other machine ones- that is awesome cause i was alittle worried as i have used the other type and wasnt very impressed.

Lisa - there are a few places online that go for around $630 including delivery. I ended up getting mine at applicance surplus for $580 incl delivery. They didnt have the colour i wanted in stock a few days ago but when i checked yesterday it was there so i bought it straight away.

Cant wait for it to arrive - i think i'll be doing the same as Mrsmac and be stroking till my hearts content

Gee that's cheap the cheapest I could find was $632 on line including delivery. Now that I can get it $50 cheaper think I'll just have to convince DH that I need to get one. Thanks for the Mrs B26.

Now for what colour to choose?????

Choosing the colour was the hardest part
I knew i want boysenberry though but the price was making me re-think - if it didnt come up as in stock i probably would have paid the extra $50 elsewhere for it though just cause i really wanted that colour!
At that shop they are usually $630 but they are on special for some reason so i'm glad i nabbed one when i did.
Have fun and i hope you can get convince your DH!!!

Rouge - is it easy enough to make the pasta? i'm keen to make fresh, and looks like i have greenlight to get KA after house settles, but like MrsB26, i'm a little overwhelmed about attachments.
i really don't want to get a food processor but miss the one we had (mostly for grating/slicing and for grinding up roast meat for shepherds pie). our old food processor had a blender attachment too, which we used for ****tails (i MISS my ****tails!) - but the KA doesn't appear to have similar so i'm guessing i will need to buy a blender. trying to create some sort of budget before i go toooooooooooo nuts lol

MrsB26 - i love the boysenberry color but it won't work in my kitchen so i'm looking at something that will work with stainless/brushed stainless - i'm guessing probably one of the silverish ones or black/white. not sure. i do get caught in the oooooooooooh pretty factor with the colors, but i'm tryyyying to be practical lol

BG - I loved the Ice Blue or the Pink one, but I decided to go with what matches my kitchen which is why I got the Metallic Chrome one. I think it is pretty
