When did you know your last was your last?

So I'm currently pregnant with number 3... yet I have a fear (well not really a fear more of a feeling) that this isn't my last....

I've always only wanted two... and maybe #3 came along cause I only actually have one at home as my oldest lives with his father in NZ and only visits in the school holidays, but at the moment I don't feel like I'm finished...

So when did you know that you were finished?

I don't know how to answer that, but I knwo this is my last because DH doesn't want any more. So for us, 3 is it. He has made the compromise for me to have #3 and I have to make the compromise that we won't be having #4. But TBH, I have terribly mixed feelings about it anyway. I am so unsure even if DH said yes to #4, that I would really want to have another anyway. I want time for me now. I have been pg or bfing a young child for the last 4 1/2yrs, and expect to be bfing this bub for another 2ish yrs. And then babyhood will beover and I can live a little more. I can have my body back, study, continue with my career, figure out who I am and what I want, rather than worrying over the kids so much, because they will be getting bigger. So to have another child would mean that would need to be put on the back burner for another 3ish years and I don't think I want that. We would also need to seriously think about the financial side of things. But in having said that, the urge to have another baby is so strong. If I were to want another after this I know it will be terribly difficult for me to get over it and work through it. I'm not sure DH will be very understanding because he just doesn't get it. I really dislike being pg and the first few months of having a newborn. But those things are rather fleeting in the grand scheme of things and won't be something that would keep me from having more children. But the respect and love I have for my hubby will. So the answer is fairly simple for us. This is it. If I had a choice, I would have to think long and hard about it though.

Before I was pg with DS2 I was sure that two would be enough. I told everyone that we were done after him and was quite excited about it. I felt like we were done. Not long after he was born I was SURE that I wasnt done at two. We are ttc#3 and to be honest Im not sure i'll feel done after that one either, but DH only wants one more, so whether I feel done or not I'll have to make peace with it.

If you want more children, then go for it. See how you go after having this one and decide later. It might be that you feel finished and complete, or you might still feel there is room for another.

I know that I am done now- I feel whole and complete. I am sure that Iwill go through the greiving stage as DD2 grows up, and I realise that I want hold my own newborn again, however I still know that I am finished. Now that DD#1 is at school and we are moving on into the stage past only babies, I am looking forward to the future and the different things we can do with older kids.

I knew before Ds was born, i have been pregnant almost constantly since 2006 with 3 pregnancies and one chemical pregnancy. It has taken it's toll as I had bed rest at the end of the last two and I hated not being able to play with the girls let alone keep up with the housework.

If I was to be pg again I would probably end up on bed rest again from 34 weeks as it seems to be the magical number of when my body decides that's enough and my labours are super fast. I only just got to the hospital in time with ds, my waters broke and we got there in 20 min, I was pushing in 15 minutes and he arrived 20 minutes later. It would have been quicker if he didnt get stuck. Dd was 40 minutes after my waters broke but we were already at hospital.

But aside from all that I just feel like our family is complete and do does dh. We always thought we wanted four but we have changed our minds.

When every bedroom is going to be a bedroom, and not an office.

We used to have an office each, then mine went when P came, and now DH has to give his up.

Im currently pregnant with my third. DF had decided he was happy with the 2 girls even thought DD1 isnt his. I had finally come around to his way of thinking when surprise number 3 decided to join us.

3 is definatly it for us. I only ever wanted 3 and to have another would mean alot would have to change. As it is now, 2 of the kids will have to share a room (3 bedroom house but luckily the girls room is the bigger room so the boy will have the smaller room), our car (landcruiser) has no more room for anymore kids so we'd need another car, our boat cant fit anymore then 5 comfortably (even 5 may be a bit squished) and our holiday place on the river has no more room then for 5 people. So 3 kids is it definatly. And now that we know #3 is a boy, DF has his little man and have my little ladys so we've both gotten what we wanted and now DF also has one of each that are biologically his.

That's one thing I'm a afraid of is that this one is a little boy (I'm pretty sure it is but we will find out next week) and then having the feelings that we aren't finished... then I'll want to try for a girl... I don't want to be the one that keeps trying for a girl...

I'm not saying that I won't be happy with three lad's

I did wonder that before ds was born having two girls. I will never know for sure but I think I would still be finished but it would have made the decision a bit harder.

I knew it was my last pregnancy when I started getting contractions at 26 weeks... 8 weeks of contractions and bed rest with a 2yr old (with special needs) was not my idea of fun. The pregnancy emotionally took it's toll on me. Two prems, 3 angels (5w, 8w and 17w) my body has said enough is enough. I had my tubes clamped a few months ago, we are well and truly done. I just knew I was done.
