Hi,

I am soooo stressed!

My son will be 2 years old in a months time. He has been interested in the toilet/wees/poos since he was about 16months and we were going to do it back then but kept forgetting.

Anyway, so we started potty training him about 2 months ago (21months). Usually we have the potty in whatever room we are and try to put him on it about every 30mins. 99% of the time he does a wee on the potty when we put him on it and sometimes we use the toilet too which he uses no problem, even when we're out if i put him on a big toilet with me holding onto him (for dear life!) he does wee's too, no matter if it's the shops or someones house. That's not a problem at all. But if we don't put him on he wee's in his jocks/pants. And now he seems to be weeing on the floor on purpose! The little ratbag! He has nappy pants on for when we go out as i'm too scared to do jocks out and about yet. And i try to take him to the toilet every 30mins or so. Sometimes i forget and he has held it for 45mins to even an hour but at home he wees like every 15mins this week and i can't keep up with cleaning up the mess (entire house carpeted).

I don't want to go back to nappies but i am feeling lost as to what to do and i am nearly in tears every time he wees on the carpet or couch. Our house now smells of wee, especially my part of the couch! I was hoping to get the couch and carpet cleaned ($400) once he was a bit further on but i think he's going backwards. We can't afford to pay for the floors to be done twice!

Sometimes i think putting him in nappy pants confuses him maybe....? He was doing poos in the toilet pretty 50% of the time, now he won't put in the toilet and holds onto it until i'm not around and he's in jocks or nappy pants (ie. just before we walk out the door).

Can anyone offer some practical tips?

P.S. I don't think there has been a longer rant!
