    Milk or solids???

DD breastfeeds and does BLS. She wakes in the morning at 7.30 and I give her her first feed of the day. About an hour later, I give her breakfast which is usually toast and yoghurt. Lately she hasn't been having as much of her toast as she used to. In saying that, she used to have her first breast feed at 6am, then toast at 8.30, so a bigger gap. So my question is, at nearly 11 months, should she be having the solids first now? Or should I keep doing what I'm doing?

Many thanks for any advice x

I'd probably keep things the way they are for the moment, BM is still the most important thing for her at this age. Once DD was one then I swapped things around so would offer solids first then milk, and now she has a sippy cup of milk with her breakfast.

dw I felt exactly the same way!! She'll let you know if she is hungry, if she is her normal happy self and growing well then you are doing a fantastic job!

I always struggle with breakfast... DD is 14 months old, but often she wakes desperate for milk so that's what I give her. I have to wait an hour at least to give her brekkie, and even then she often won't eat much (only if it's something like eggs or pancakes etc) so now I just give her morning tea about an hour later and she usually eats lots then.

For the last couple of months, we've gone on what time she fed during the night. If she fed at 4am and was up at 7am, we'd give her solids first, then milk around 9am.

If she slept through and woke up around 6am, we would give her milk, and then breakfast around 8.30.

That probably didn't help you at all.

Swoop, glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling with brekky. Thanks for sharing your experiences

Mel, believe it or not, you did help. You're doing pretty much what I do, so I can't be too far off the track

    Thanks girls x

It depends here on the night feeds to, sometimes DD will wake wanting milk, other times is happy to play until I have breakfast ready. If its only been a few hours since her last milk feed, she will want solids.

She usually let me know she wants solids, due to the fact she starts trying to crawl up the fridge or pantry.
