    Fluid retention / swollen fingers

Just wondering if anyone felt like they were still retaining fluid a few months after the birth? DS will be 12 weeks on Sat and my fingers are still swollen. This might sound a bit shallow but I really want to put my wedding and engagement rings back on and they still don't fit. It seems strange to me because they fitted up until 37 weeks pg and I know I weighed heaps more then and my feet, knees and hands were already pretty swollen and noticeably puffed up. So the strange thing is that I don't feel like I'm retaining fluid as such and my hands, feet and knees do not appear to be swollen either. So now I'm a little concerned that maybe my hands have just grown in size and this is how they will stay. Has anyone else experienced something like this and did your hands end up going back to the same size they were before pregnancy? It will really suck if my hands don't go back to what they were because my rings have diamonds around the entire band and I'd have to get them remade not just resized

i wrote a similar thread a couple of months ago. i think i was around 4 months post natal when i could finally fit my wedding ring on but still needed detergent to get it off again.

my hands are still larger than they were and i'm now 8 months post natal. i still can't fit both wedding and engagement ring on at same time.

i will try to find my thread cos i know others reclaimed their former svelte fingers.

I also retained a lot of fluid during pregnancy, in fact I think I wasn't able to wear my rings from about 6 months onwards. I can't remember exactly when I was able to put them back on after having DS, but it was definately months rather than weeks... Because you've been carrying all that fluid all the joints will have loosened up as well so bulky knuckles can also make it difficult to get them back on. If it was me I would be leaving it at least a year or so before resizing rings etc, cos chances are they will fit again... Mind you, just as I was typing that I remembered some of my pre-preg shoes still don't fit LOL (but hopefully feet are a bit different). GL

Thanks heaps ladies. kate that thread was really helpful. Gosh I hope my hand do go back down and my rings fit. They cost thousands of dollars to get made so as I said resizing them would be a huge ask I am actively loosing weight so hopefully they will start to fit soon!
