Ok so DH and i love the gro bags but i wanted to ask who has used them and if you have can you give me some pros or cons?
Also ive been thinking i wouldnt mind trying a belly wrap or what ever there called lol the things you wear after birth under your clothing that are ment to help your tummy.Has anyone tried one of these? If you have did you like it did you hate ect ec
Used grobags with DS1 from 9 weeks when he stopped being swaddled and with DS2 from 9 months when he stopped swaddling.
loved them also used dreambag brand cheaper brand but still tog rated. They were great as didnt need to worry about them kicking blankets off and getting cold, DS2 co sleeps and great as no extra blankets to worry about.
I found DS loved being wrapped for the first 5 or 6 months so didn't try gro bags before then. Being wrapped up nice and tight seemed to help him settle. They have been great ever since though. The actual gro bag brand can be pricey, there are heaps of different ones out there though. At almost 16 months old DS is very comfy in his bags, he can roll around and stand up without any issue. I have different weights for different seasons so he doesn't get too hot or cold. I don't have to use blankets during winter, DS is warm enough with a heavier bag.
As for after birth, I kept using my pregnancy belly bands. They were great for keeping everything nice and comfortable!
Once DD and DS were able to wiggle their way out of their wraps we moved onto to the Grobags. I loved knowing that no matter how much they moved around that they were at least still warm. We have a 0.5 tog for the summer months and a 2.5 tog for the winter months.
(P.S - I have seen in toys r us latest catalogue that they are on sale too!).
DS has been in grobags since he was about 11 weeks old. they've been great. i can't think of any cons...for me the pros are that they're well made, have the tog rating (esp good for a changable climate like melbourne!), easy to get on & off (but not so easy for DS - he hasn't managed to work it out yet!). i prefer the ones that have the opening on the top of the shoulders & zip down the side (the others have a zip down the middle - i found that more difficult to put on).
we've had the 0-6m, 6-18m & DS has just gone into the 18-36m. we've also had 1.0 & 2.5 togs.
Thanks ladies! Thats awesome, yea we too were thinking they would be good as in no need to worry about bubs loosing her blanket ect. I love how you said they can still roll around to thats good. Thanks everyone
I've put my girl in a Grobag the last couple of nights (I got her a 1.0 Tog) because she HATES being swaddled. She seems to like it and has slept well the last couple of nights - could just be coincidence! I used a Grobag for my DS and he quickly learnt to associate the bag with sleep and would settle as soon as the bag went on.
I am wearing the SRC recovery shorts. I suffered SPD whilst pg and used their pregnancy shorts. The recovery shorts come up to just under your bra and that took a couple of days to get used to but I now find then very comfortable. Lots of people have commented that I have lost my belly very quickly and I think it has shrunk much faster than with my previous two children.
The physio who taught a class I took at Frances Perry Hospital said those post-birth wraps were bad...whereas the SRC recovery shorts (and similar items) are fantastic. She explained that she has seen situations where the belly wrap had been wrapped too tight be the wearer and pushed some inside parts to places they weren't supposed to be. Whereas the shape wear (such as SRC recovery shorts) really just holds things in where they are meant to be.
