    baby cradles/cribs/bassinets

    Hi all

I have been reading a lot of posts about what to have bubs sleep in and we were looking at a bassinet-type arrangement, but wanted something big enough that it would last a while and therefore be value for money.

For those of you who have cradles bassinets etc that have/will last a good few months what type/brand did you have?

    thanks
    Mel

We bought ours second-hand, but the dimensions are roughly 84cm long - this lasted until he was about 8 months old.

I bought my bassinet second hand as well and its one of the older ones so is ALOT longer then the newer type. Off the top of my head i cant think what its calledand its still in storage so i cant check the name but my DD2 was in it for 5 months and could have been in it for longer but i gave it to my sister to use for my nephew. When she stopped using it, she still had heaps of room left to grow.

we bought a portable Moses basket type deal with handles and a sun cover that velcros on and off

It was only $40 at babyrus but tours should have them too. They had blue pink and green , we bought it after I left hospital so got blue for our boy. we carried him everywhere in it, to caves, restaurants and parks etc without him being disturbed at all. He slept in it in our room on the floor beside my bed for six months until he grew out of it and became too heavy to carry with one hand lol,

It was fantastic and if it holds up I'll be using it again in august 2011. Definitely my most useful baby purchase ever.

We were pretty active before bub and it helped us to keep up our life, for a while.... Until they stop sleeping so much lol

I bought a cane bassinette from Target and it is quite long and we used a tea tree mattress in it. It was only about $90 on sale and we used it for ages. It comes on a stand so is tall enough if you have a c/s not to have to bend over so much.

ive found that with the base of the cot at the higher level and the side rail down that we have no need for a bassinette

I got a 2nd hand one for Moo that lasted til he was 6 months, and he was a long baby. It was an older style wooden one that I found on an online pre loved baby goods site.

Ahurani: the kingparrot one is exactly the same as the boori one and it's great, we have just started using it for our bub (born last sat) and I love it!!!
