Cravings wise, this pregnancy is totally different to the first.
I had ben vegan for a long time and all I wanted when pregnant with P was Broccoli...I ate 3 or 4 heads a week. Then that changed to the sour/vinegar craving that a lot of preg women get.
For the majority of my life I haven't been able to stand the sight or smell of meat, let alone the taste.
This pregnancy...red meat and chilli. The hotter, the better. Meat - well, I don't know if it's the texture, the taste or what, but I def don't even notice the taste! Fish and chicken are a no, but beef and beef products, no problem. Fish is a no, but seafood...mmmmm!
This baby is really, really quiet too - except when I've eaten something I've been craving. P was really active all the time...ALL the time. It used to drive me mental. This one hardly moves at all...it's there and all, just quiet.
TOnight we're having asian takeout...spicy beef salad and pepper squid.
What have you been craving? Is there any science behind them or are we just weird, crazy pregnant women?
my cravings are more about texture than taste. Though sweet stuff has been high on the list of studd I HAVE to have! Not that that is unusual for me though! But I have had to have things like jelly, custard tarts, and above all else those space food sticks, lol! Also high on the adgenda is kraft macaroni and cheese. Only that brand and only a certain one. I made a homemade one one day and was sooo disappointed by it! Oh, I need to have soda water every day too. On a hot day, I can easily go through a 2ltr bottle. Nothing else quenches my thirst like soda water!
I was pretty much vegetarian before S, and didn't really get into meat a lot while pregnant with him. With him, it was all about fresh fruit. With T (girl), really wanted meat - even red meat, which I've not eaten for years. And oranges.
This time round (also girl), it's fresh fruit again... grapes, mangoes, nectarines (ESPECIALLY nectarines), peaches, everything. I can't get enough of them. Haven't really had the meat craving I did with T, except for *ahem* bacon.
Before getting pg I only ate seafood and was very particular on what seafood, a vegequarian... But then I started eating turkey, chicken and pork once I knew I was pg to try to keep my protein up... Oh and I have discovered I LOVE bacon!! Haha...
But still no red meat.., I will never eat red meat.
My cravings have been weird as in only last like 3 days - 2 weeks the I get sick of it and don't want to eat it at all!! Lol. I am loving black plums atm. I eat like 2-3 a day... Expensive little ones too damn it!! And I havent been able to drink anything carbonated at all until like 2 weeks ago now I am obsessed with caffeine free pepsi light! Lol..
I haven't had any definate cravings this time, but instead the 1-week need. At the moment it's original CC's with avocado. Earlier it was mineral water with lemon juice.
Need mango - to make it into a smoothie so I don't get massive reflux from it.
I was vegie for 18 years before i got pregnant, and then chicken smelt really good! No other meats just chicken. I still didn't like big bits you had to chew too much, or bits on bones though.
I craved chilli when I was pregnant too. I couldn't get enough of the stuff! I used to go to the pizza shop where they'd let me make my own pizza because they couldn't make one hot enough for me. I still love chilli.
For me it is savoury stuff that is carohydrate and fat - so hot chips, pizza, buttered toast with vegemite, cheeseburgers. I find it really helps with my morning sickness! But is doing very badly for my efforts not to gain weight.
Last pregnancy it was just sugary stuff - jelly beans, jubes, gummi bears - pure sugar!
For the whole pregnancy i've been wanting fruits and cereal, and icecream! I think it's most things sweet actually, although i still cant stand sugar on my cereal but if theres a box of fruitloops in the house it wont last a week! Vegimite toast is an almost daily occurance too.
