Letting her lead

I am pretty sure DD1 is ready for TTing, she has asked to wear 'knickers' so today while it was a bit warmer i put knickers on her outside, she asked to sit on the potty but then did nothing... no big issue.

We came inside and by then it had been say 2hrs with the knickers on, she kept crossing her legs and i said do you need to do wees... "No"

Then all of a sudden she yells OH DEAR WEES MUMMY... she hadn't done it yet but was just starting to by the time i got to her. (lucky we were in the kitchen)
She was quite upset and asked for the potty, i know she had finished but i got her to sit on it anyway.

So do i just let her lead from here, explain the wees are for on the potty etc and if she asks for knickers allow her to wear them?

I might have to let her pick some out shopping sometime this week, you know something knew and cool... she's only 26mths so i know there is no rush.

We are doing similar with DD but no undies as yet (no idea where we would get ones to fit her 16mth, size 00 bum!).
