    What is your hobby?

Hi everyone. Iv'e been thinking that I need a hobby for about 5 years now! Before I met dh my hobbies were going to the beach, working out at the gym, drinking and smoking and socialising with all of my friends at any time of the day or night Now I don't really do any of those things as I have a home gym and all of my old friends are on a different path to me now. Drinking and smoking went out the window with that and going to the beach isn't really a hobby although I still LOVE it.

So what is your hobby? So far on my list is Jewelery making with crystals/gem stones

I love gardening, it's something I've only been into for the past year. It's actually really soothing and satisfying.
I also read. Whenever I can, usually a book a week. It's an awesome escape!

teaching myself to play the ukelele!
    very cool!

Improving my surfing (can do more of that now I don't have a baby in my belly), cross-stitch.

I'm thinking of trying scrap booking but don't know where or how to start.

thanks ladies Just remembered that I also enjoy painting. I've done 5 for our house which I really liked but there's only so much hanging space and when they aren't on the wall they just take up space somewhere. I also used to really enjoy cross stitch but don't think I'd be too keen to spend the money buying all the gear again.

The ukelele that is really cool! Maybe I could find 'some' sort of instrument to play... I do have one of those little hand drums maybe I could take lessons in that. My dh is a drummer in a band and we have a music room with guitar, heaps of percussion instruments and a keyboard... but I"m not 'that' musically inclined hmmm

I did really love my workouts at the gym and was totally addicted. I'd love to run again. You're always inspiring MG plus I am actively loosing weight so something physical would be great

Uke is easy as, they are cheap to buy, the chords marry up with slight adjustment to guitar and it's fun! You can google uke chords as well and free songs. NOt sure where you are but in Melbourne there is a place called African Drumming(google it) and they do night classes for adults. The kids at my school just did an 8 week program and it was FANTASTIC! I am doing the teacher training for it next year.

I've only gotten into scrapbooking since DD was born. I bought a couple of magazines, but they are so intimidating! If you google scrapbooking basics there are a couple of good websites to help get you started (one of them is scrapbooking 101, I think). Creative memories run workshops so you can check out their website to find out if there is a consultant who runs workshops in your area. The thing I like about scrapbooking is that pretty much anything goes.

    Hmmm, let's see....

I love cooking and baking, especially experimenting with recipes from different regions (Indian, Thai, Spanish etc). I'm also into reading, calligraphy and live action role play (which is how DH and I met).

I have previously done medieval re-enactment and competitive archery, however these take up a lot of time and energy so have fallen by the wayside a bit.

Am extremely excited to be finally going to start music lessons and learn to play the flute, which is something I've wanted to do for absolutely ages and hope to add silver jewellery smithing to that list as well this year.

Would depend on how old DS is really - I've involved DD in a lot of my hobbies, especially the crafty types. Little babies are great subjects for photography and scrapbooking, not to mention sewing (there are some awesome kids patterns out there) and other handcrafts. As they get older you can start to involve them a bit more - toddlers love helping out in the kitchen and easy baking recipes are a great way of getting them into cooking.

My DD is 8 nearly 9 now and will be starting guitar lessons this year when school goes back, she loves doing crafty things with me like glass painting and mosaics etc. I really want to try pottery with her sometime as well - I think we'd get a kick out of it. She also does Girls Brigade and finds this heaps of fun - maybe look into Scouts or something?

Strangely enough the shire council often has a lot info on various hobby clubs in the local area, especially on their websites which often has contact info available. Or google searching local clubs for a particular hobby is good too

I knit. I'm making ds a monkey now, and then I'm going to find something for dd. I found a gorgeous butterfly pattern but it's crochet, so maybe I'll try that next.
The Martha Stewart site has some great ideas.
