My DD fell over tonight and does the norm and gets up and walks away i spent ages trying to figure out if it was alright only cause she held it for awhile after i get worried cause she has a really high pain tolerance (had a broken nose when she was 2 and didnt even complain) split her head open had stitches and only cried when i held her down for the stitches. She is my girl that should have been a boy
i use to think she was clumsy when younger then realised she needed grommits as she had no balance so into the hospital for grommits in and tonsils and adnoids out she had the op and was up 1/2 hr later laughing and wanting to be active. she just had her 2nd lot of grommits they let her leave the hospital an hour after cause she was fine and didnt cry i gave her panadol every 4hrs for the first day just in case cause she doesnt complain
i was wanting to know if anyone elses children are the same
yep my ds (youngest ) is exactly the same falls n etc not a tear but u yell at him n he crumbles lol
he had hearing probs also very young n was just as clumsy he would actually fall back n smash his head face anything..
he fell once n his arm n elbow came out of there sockets i didnt know he was just walking around carrying it n when he went to get his 18 mth needles the dr was shocked..
i think from all that falling when htey where younger they build up a high tolerance.. no idea
My older sister has a scary high pain tolerance. She broke her wrist when she was 3.5 and hid it from my mum for a week. My mum only took her to see the doctor when my sister wouldnt use her arm. She broke her ankle in 3 places 5 years ago and didnt even cringe at all when they were looking at it.
My DD1 is a bit like this - especially the clumsy bit. She's fine with most falls, and gets more upset if we yell or tell her off about something than she does if she falls over and hurts herself.
Sounds exactly like me as a child...balance probs and all. I was awake and eating right after my tonsil and adenoid op at 4 years old too! Had my first concussion at 7/8 - knocked myself out on a playground and had a nice head egg, but didn't complain so my parents assumed I was fine...then I puked right through the back of the car not long after! Hehehe!
My DD has a high pain tolerance but without the balance probs and without being prone to accidents like I was...she gave her head a huge whack yesterday and she just rubbed it and walked away...has split her lip/mouth open on countless occasions on her broken tooth (broke it before she turned one...no idea how!) and been bleeding everywhere and never batted an eyelid. She's fearless too, which is what worries me! :-P
oh yeah my ds also fell n smacked his mouth into a cement table putting his teeth straight through his lip even left lil teeth marks in the thick paint on the table n all he said was oh mum im bleeding but i want cake.. he needed 6 stitches on the inside n outside of his lip
i was that worried about DD that i was going to make her wear a helmut constantly cause i feared long term damage she had canstant ear infections for 2yrs and never once complained thats why it took so long to figure out why she was falling over all the time it would be handy for her in later life when going throu childbirth
LOL reminds me of when I slipped and fell in my ensuite and dislocated my shoulder...I didn't even notice until my Dad pointed it out! I have zero fear of pain, so my kids are doomed if they take after me...or *I* am becuase I'll be constantly worried about them!
babe i practically plastered everything i owned with rubber plus rubber mats lol!!
our kids are very similar it sounds... he always had ear infections that bad it would spread out to the beginning of his ear n sometimes his whole ear plus inner ear.. i once had blood n pus oozing out thats how bad it was..
DD is clumsy but she forgets when she's growth spurted and falls over randomly. It's always up the stairs lol. She will only cry if she hits her ear cartilage but that freaking hurts. When DD growth spurts it's always by a good 3 cms or such so a little to adjust to. I take her to the dr just to get her ears checked every 6 or so weeks to make sure not an ear infection.
thats my DD has no fear of anything. I am constantly checking her over just in case cause when she falls its like a big crash bang then nothing i have mini heart attacks that i will get there and she will be knocked out. she is my constant worry where my other 2 wont put themselves iin any situation where they will get hurt and have never been to the drs for injuries where the hospital nows DD2 the hospital makes jokes that im the one that needs valiums cause she is fine its me in tears
they have also figured out she has a high narcotics tolerance cause they gave her enough to knock out a horse and she was still trying to go and needed 4 people to hold her down while i laid nearly on top of her she has her 4yr old needles in 10 days and i was getting worried then had a little laugh ha wont worry her
zaki&amali that is my DD for sure constant discharge from the ear and is a bit behind in her speach because of all the problems they thought she was deaf and was on antibiotics for the last 3 months until her last grommits on the 12th dec then watched as her whole world opened up and she heard things she had never heard before eg crickets at night
yep my son too except my son had extreme hearing loss due to narrowing of the ear canal which over a period of time they fixed up.. he literally couldnt hear anything it was all vibration he was reacting to n he used to shake his head alot for no reason lol.. the dr's kept giving him antibiotics for no apparent reason but he was getting so many infextions it was crazy plus throat infections too
his now super sensitive too noise its crazy.. he can hear me talk from out in the bak yard if im upstairs on the phone..
he cant handle fireworks or monster trucks he goes hysterical n trembles etc..
i asked why n they said he never adapted to a large noise sensation previously so his ear drum never matured enough so noise is so great it just screams in his ears..
weird lol
amazing how the world does open though once the full sound comes flowing through they aare amazing
my daughter heard fireworks for the 1st time new year and pooped herself cause of the sound and loved them previously and just wondering is your DS really loud my DD is that loud im had to try and teach her about talking quietly not announcing that she needs to go to the toilet in the shopping centre so 50 people turn around and laugh
oh mY GOD YESSSSSSSSSs
he talks to me really close n talks as if im in the other side of the room his voice level is so loud anyone can hear him...
he talks on the phone as if his arguing with someone lol!! everyone always says zak stop yelling n he says im not!! lol
wen u said pooped herself do u mean go tscared lol?
my ds was the same the colours amazed him now he cant stans them u mention fireworks n he goes hysterical..
both my boys have pain threshholds, Jack split his chin open after a fall in the bath, there was blood everywhere I was pg with Luke so he wasn't 3 when he did it, I took him form jase as they were in shower together got a washer he held it to his chin while I dressed him then got changed myself not a whimper not a sound of him, we were a bit freaked even the hopsital were worried about no tears or anything
2 days later he slipped and smashed it again as it was covered I took him back to hospital and again nothing from him, he said he was scared abut his needles when he had them in oct but when it came for them he just stood there I didn't even have to hold his arms and then he turned aroudn for the 2nd needle
my 1 yr old has his needles and never made a sound even the 2 4 and 6mth ones, he slipped last night and cut thru the felshy party that joins you lip to gum blood everywhere not a sound even when I pressed a washer into his mouth to stop the bleeding
we have been advised to check them over if they fall incase they have injured themselves and not noticed it though
