    Pain in Fundus

    Hi

I am currently 34 + 3 days pregnant and am at risk for preterm labour.
I have an appt tomorrow for my check up, but wanted some opinions on some pain that I am having today

I woke up at 7.30 am, and since then have had like a stabbing pain at the top of my fundus that comes and goes. Stabbing pain is the only way I can describe it, it does not last for long, maybe 30 - 45 seconds sometimes a minute, and they are coming and going.

Could this be braxton kicks? or does my stomacj need to tighten at the same time as the pain in order to be braxton hicks? or are braxton hicks not painful? I have tried lying on my left side nut the pain still comes and goes?

Most will probably say to just call the hospital, but I wanted some opinions from you ladies first.

    TIA

    Hello!
I'm not sure whether braxton hicks contractions are supposed to be a "stabbing pain"? Are you still getting plenty of movement from bubba? And how far apart are the pains?

I am one who says definitely go to the hospital if you have even the slightest doubt - at least they can put on you a monitor to check bub's heart rate, and also check if you actually are contracting. Good luck hun!

I have an irritable uterus and get rather painful braxton hicks most of the day every day, so I feel for you darl.

Braxton Hicks can just be a tightening that you don't even notice, bit uncomfortable (like mild period cramping), painful or very painful (they can feel like real labour contractions, and sometimes can even act like them too, lasting for anywhere between 30sec-1min and coming every 3 minutes or so in a regular pattern) - it's different for everyone, though most doctors and health care professionals will tell you that they aren't usually painful and only cause mild discomfort at worst, it's always wise to keep an open mind in case you are one of those like myself that don't fit the norm.

I have had stabbing pains at the top of my fundus too, usually combined with lower back pain, but even though I always get toild that everything is fine I still go up o the hospital to get checked out, just in case.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I hope you can get checked out quickly and that your little bub holds on for a few more weeks and those pains go away!

I have a pain that feels similiar to what you are describing I think. Its like a pain in this one spot, just to the left of the centre, up top. I dont have any contractions when I have it, it kind of feels like something is being pulled from the inside. It hurts to touch it when it is aching, like its bruised maybe?? I dunno. I asked the Dr I last saw and they couldnt tell me what it was. Suggested that maybe the baby might be lying in a awkward position.

not to freak you out, but when I was pregnancy with DS I had the same pain develop about 1 week before my waters broke, and its only just started with this pregnancy. So I would be interested to see if its in any way related. I also havent been able to find anything that helps the pain. sorry am not more use.
