I am only 4 weeks pregnant, and I already have terrible morning sickness.
It started 3 days ago, I woke up early and ran to the toilet to vomit. At first I thought I was coming down with a virus, but when the same thing happened yesterday I had to get my boyfriend to buy me a test and bring it to my house. I didn't think I was pregnant, but I had to rule it out.
As you can imagine, I did not expect a second line to appear! I waited to do another test later last night, which too showed a faint line!
Is there any hope for me? I feel so rotten, and vomit around 3 times a day.
Will it get worse, or is there a chance it might get better? I can not imagine going to work like this.
Is there something I can do or take that might help?
i found out with this pg, sea sick bands you can get them at the chemist you wear themon your wrist and they affect a pressure point there.
also ginger beer, but for some reason im told, the bundaberg one in a glass bottle is the best for it. you can also get a tablet from your doctor, i think its maxalon? that works for some, i didnt find it as effective as the other 2 but.
congrats on the BFP there is hope it will go away, its common to have it early. If you google morning sickness remedies, there will be massive lists, none of which worked for me but might for you.
If it gets really bad, you could try maxalon, you will need to get it from your Dr.
Other then the regular tips that google will spin up for you all I can suggest is making the bathroom/toilet as comfy as possible,(i.e soft mat on the floor, scented candles etc), keep a bucket by the bed so at you dont have to dash in the middle of the night and get some mouth wash if you dont already have it oh and some of those spew bags from the Dr's that are fantastic for when you are out and about.
congratulations on your pregnancy, amber-jay! I hope that it's something your boyfriend and you are happy about, even if it's a surprise
with morning sickness, everyone is different, but "normally" morning sickness won't last for too long - 6-10 weeks is pretty normal, but some women get none at all, or just a few days!
common things which help include:-
o making sure your tummy doesn't get empty
o dry crackers or toast (saladas, vita-wheat, etc)
o mineral water
o ginger beer (the bundaberg one is good, because it has real ginger in it, not just flavouring)
o jelly beans
o cold, juicy fruit, like watermelon and grapes
but there's loads of different things that different women find good.
I also found that my morning sickness wasn't as bad if I got a lot (and I mean LOADS) of sleep - 12+ hours.
be gentle with your body, and find out what helps.
3 times a day is pretty mild, it does feel a lot worse though!
The good news is that it WILL pass...the old wive's tale says sick mum = healthy baby in regards to morning sickness.
Stuff with real ginger in it works pretty well.
There's also a pressure point in your wrist and massaging/pressing it is said to be effective also. You might have to google that one, I can't for the life of me remember exactly where it is.
If you try all the remedies above and still feel crap - you could try accupuncture.
Nothing is going to cure it 100%, except waiting....trust me, the time will fly past!
Congratulations!!!! I agree with the list peanutter provided you and the other ladies on here. Unfortunately it didn't matter what i ate, some things made it not as bad but it was still there and it may possibly get worse. I stuck it out for about 4 weeks and then got some maxolon from the doc which worked for me. Hope that helps.
Today started off really, really bad. I vomited three times, but all this morning, within 2 hours. I cried because I was worried it would be like this through my whole pregnancy.
I called a friend who assured me it will pass, and she said that what worked for her was a glass of ice cold coke, and gingernut biscuits. So I tried the coke after my last vomit, and while I still felt horrible on the inside, I actually didn't feel the urge to vomit! It could be coincidence, though I hope not.
I will have a google tonight and see what else I can arm myself up with to try out.
