Hi everyone, I'm wondering about VBAEMC? I'm due in 12 days, really wanted to have a natural birth, went to the Dr last week 4/5 engaged, went this week now bubs has moved back up again!! I can feel this as I'm struggling to breath again. Last bubs never engaged at all, had no contractions or even twinges. Is it likely that this bub will engage? My Dr is happy to let me go to nearly 41 weeks, with hope I will go naturally, and bubs is well and so am I, which is great. I'm thinking though if this baby is still high by next app, 39+2 should I ask to book a c-section? I don't feel its going to happen at all at the moment!! I'm a bit frustrated, and disappointed, but also remembering I'm healthy and so is the baby so thats all I can hope and ask for..... I susppose I'm wondering has anyone ealse had a similar experience?? If I have to have a c-section I would rather it sooner than later so I can start recovering, not sure how much different the recovery is second time round?? First time I really struggled, it took ages...... Thanks for any advice, thoughts or suggestions.......
It' is hard knowing what to do. Rest assured though that many many babies do not engage until woman are in labour so I wouldn't be worried about that. As far as recovery goes, my first CS was an emergency cs after 36 hours of labour, second was an elective c/s after trying for a VBAC and waiting until 42 weeks (stubborn child) and the recovery was a bit easier second time around but could have had alot to do with the fact of no labour, no firstborn wipe out (OMG there is a BABY here what do we do with her now?!) and just getting on with my toddler and the baby.
If you can ask for longer to wait for your scheduled c/s it would be better as well because bub just might need that little bit longer to bake. Good luck with it all
I think you need to give yourself some time too, bubs is still baking and isn't ready yet. Give your body a chance to see if it can happen naturally. I had two successful vbac's after an emergency c sect.
Thanks girls, I susppose I thought the same with my first would wait until 41 weeks but when he was delivered they said he was definatley ready as the film had started to come off him?? Not sure what they meant, also the fact he had a bit of jaundice, I'm not entirely sure if that is part of being ready to born. Were healthy and thats all we can ask for! Thankyou
They can get jaundice at any stage but it's usually more common in early babies rather than later but all three of mine had it, they were 34 weeks, 37weeks and 39+5
Mine never had vernix/film on them but my placenta and cord were fully functioning so not sure if that means anything. After 41 weeks I was going in for monitoring every 2 days to make sure my waters weren't decreasing, and that my placenta was working. Bub was fine and they can monitor you to make sure all is ok if you decide to wait longer. xox
