So my wife and I are very soon expecting our firstborn. We want to buy some nappies, but what dont know which ones are good and what are a good price! Want to buy as much as possible and for a good price.
Just a word of advice Torkona, don't get too many of one size - unless you baby is really small at birth, newborn nappies don't fit for much longer than a month/5weeks on average, depending on how fast your baby gains weight, so it would be best to buy only a few boxes of newborn nappies and then get some in the next size up. If you end up needing some more newborn ones you can go and get them as you need them. But in my experience, I only just get through 2 boxes of Huggies newborn nappies (108 nappies per box) before they are needing the next size up.
Where are you located Tork? Aldi are a discount grocery shop that are in Nsw and Qld , I'm not sure about other states. Some of my friends rate BabyLove nappies quite highly and you can get a good price when they are on sale. Places like toys r us usually have good bulk sales. It's worth comparing the cost per nappy to check pricing. I forget what the newborn prices are though. I'm currently paying about 30c per nappy for my 18 month old but it's less for the smaller nappies. Huggies are generally he most expensive, they would cost me more than 40c per nappy.
Disposables I like Huggies the best. Cloth (MCN) I love Greenkids. Good luck and enjoy your special little bundle. Good advice from Trillian re: not stockpiling too many in the newborn size. Wait and see how bub grows.
