Heart rate 13 weeks - need advice!

    Hi all

I think I'm probably worrying over nothing, but I had an OB appointment today and bub's heart rate was 176. Everything I read is that it should be a fair bit lower than this by now. Two weeks ago it was 167. I know all sorts of things affect the heart rate at any given time but does this seem too high?

My OB didn't seem concerned, but he was really checking to make sure it wasn't too low, as I have a risk of the baby developing congenital heart block due to SSA antibodies.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

At 12w5d DS2 had a heartrate of 177bpm and he is now a happy, healthy 2yo. My Dr never suggested it was a problem. I personally think its fine.

    Hi Bug’sMum

Dam these babies can be scary even before they are born.
A normal heart rate is between 110 and 160 however it is quite common for the heart rate to go higher than this at times especially if your baby is active. Just like you when you are on the move your heart rate will be higher than if you are quiet and still. 176 is nothing to be concerned about

I just wanted to say that my DS's heartrate between 7wks6d and term varied between 173pbm (at term) and 181bpm (at 12wks) and he is ow a very healthy and extremely active 2 year old.

With my current pregnancy, the HR has varied between 115bpm and 143bpm depending on what she is doing.

Each baby and pregnancy is different and as long as it isn't over 190bpm for an extended period of time then bub will be fine.
