Question Bumbo play tray - which way to attach/remove?

Ok so I'm thinking that this has to be fairly easy, right? To attach the play tray to the Bumbo, we put the bit that fits over the top of the 'leg splitter' (for want of a better word!) on, then we have to push the bottom lip of the play tray over the bottom of the front of the chair. Hope that makes sense. So the two parts of the play tray are already together when we put it on the chair.

Anyway this means we can't do it if the front of the chair is on something eg floor, table, so we have to move the chair to the edge of the table or tilt it slightly to put the tray on. Similar thing occurs when removing the tray. Difficult with DD in the chair!

Are we really doing it right? Are you supposed to actually remove the tray by only taking the top section off? I remember seeing a pic of someone's bub sitting in the Bumbo with the bottom section of the tray attached but the top section (they actual tray part) removed.

Someone please help as I am feeling really stupid!!!

Nope you're doing it right, well that's how I was doing it anyways. It's hard to get on and off, but easy without them actually in the bumbo.....which I'm pretty sure the box says not to remove or put on the tray with the child in the seat..... that did not stop me trying however

There is no way I could get the tray off the clip on part once I put it together either.

thats how we did it, but after a year of good use the back started to split, its still useable but has a big crack in it now from tilting it back using the back rest to clip the bottom bit of the tray in.

Good to hear I am not crazy then

HB - I tried putting DD in with the tray on but it was too tricky. So I continue to do it over the edge of the table.

Beckoes - DH has started tilting it when removing the tray - may have to stop him from doing that then!!
