Molluscum Contagiosum - skin coloured pustules

So DD started with one skin coloured pustule near her neck. I thought it was a mole or something, and ignored it. Gradually more and more appeared on her back and torso, even a couple on her scalp.
Finally I've done some research and it really sounds like Molluscum Contagiosum.
Has anyone else experienced this, and do you have any advice?

I know you posted this in January, but just wanted to post that my son had this for quite a while. At first we had no idea what it was, neither did the dr's that I was seeing(couldn't get into his regular dr). Finally got into his regular dr and she confirmed what it was. It lasted about 2 to 3 months (possibly longer, can't quite remember), no medication was needed, just something to calm the itching (we used calamine lotion).

Has your dd still got the pustules?

My ds has some scaring on his legs from it, but the dr said it would go away with time.

DD1 had these quite badly for about 18m - they do go away by themselves if you leave them alone. They look bad but they don't hurt or itch. Don't try to ***** them as they will scar. Make sure no other kids are in the bath with your child or use the same towel as that's how it can spread. They usually last about 6m - 2y before the body develops an immune response to them. When it does they will go red and angry and then just disappear.

All of my kids had it and it was a massive PITA to deal with. I managed to get my kids clear of it in 6 weeks with vigilant washing of linen, not sharing baths (and giving it a squirt with antibacterial stuff inbetween baths) and boosting their immune systems with probiotics. I also sprayed or dabbed their affected areas with Colloidal Silver as well as using betadine and it did make a difference to them.

My DD1 had it about 3 years ago.
The gp we saw told us they spread in warm water, so to avoid her showering/bathing with the other kids & sharing their water. She told me it's last anywhere from 6 - 18 months.
I think it was about 6 months here. I thought they were warts & had no idea what to do!

Oh thanks for the replies girls!
DD still has them, it's been over 6months now, she had about ten and gradually increased to maybe 30.
There are 3 that are suddenly really red and angry, so hopefully this is the immune response kicking in.
Oh no I have been squeezing the really big ones! I heard that you have to squeeze the white core out to make them go away! I will leave them alone now. eep. hope there is no scarring!

Sounds like they are getting ready to go by themselves - don't squeeze anymore!!

My DD1 had these for about 9 months. My GP told me that they would go away by themselves but to help them along anytime she was in the bath to wait until they were soft and then rub them with a facewasher to knock the tops off. This worked really well and they disappeared in a lot shorter time.
