I went to have a scan on Friday at 5w 3d, and there was nothing there at all, no gestational sac or any evidence of pregnancy. The technician said "Either you're not pregnant or it's too early." I've had 3 BTs each 3 days apart that came back 152, 330, and 760 hcg, so I know I am pregnant, though I have had no symptoms. They ordered another BT but I won't know the results until Monday. In the meantime, I've had brownish-red spotting. Am I having a m/c? My last one was at 12w, but scan showed bub with no heartbeat. This time there's nothing at all! Or could it just be too early to see anything on the scan?
It could just be to early hun to find a heartbeat, try not to worry. I had a scan at 5w5d on Friday and there was no heartbeat, went back for a scan on the Monday and bubba had grown a heart over the weekend I was always told brown blood was old blood. Try not to worry to much, sending lots of grow bubba grow vibes your way
ck08- hunni! im not really sure if your having a m/c or not but I had an u/s at 3w5d and we seen the sack so im not sure.....your not in any pain are you? did they check for an eptopic pg? I hope nothing aweful is happening, and i'll be thinking of you! Buba could just be playing hide and seek! xox
Did they check your tubes etc on the ultrasound? Did they do a vaginal ultrasound as well? Are you certain of your dates?
It could be an ectopic pregnancy, it could be too early, it could be they didn't find it if he didn't do a vaginal us.
If you were miscarrying, from my experience, you would be having severe cramping and the discharge you have would progress. Usually brown blood is old blood and not a cause for concern.
Try not to stress until you know what is going on, go back to the dr and get another referral for an us if they did not do the TVS and have a chat about what could be going on.
No, it wasn't a vaginal u/s. I'm hoping that's why they didn't see anything. They did not check my tubes either. I have an appointment Monday to go over my hcg levels and u/s, so I'm hoping for more answers then. Also have another u/s scheduled for Friday. It's just so awful to have to wait and worry until then.

I've had early u/s where nothing showed up until they did the transvaginal u/s. Might be that bub is just too little to be seen by a normal pelvic u/s.
Hi, I had an ultrasound at what I thought was 5 weeks pregnant and they could see nothing. Turns out I was more like 4 weeks pregnant and two weeks later baby was showing up on ultrasound. I hope this is the case for you too.
I had brown/red spotting at 5 wks 6 days and was sent for u/s, which didn't show anything either. I went on to have a healthy pg, hoping this happens for you too, but I know it's so hard not to worry...
as the other ladies have said, it sounds like old blood, and for you that's what it is ... that little bean is safe and healthy and growing ... and just starting their love of "hide and seek" *super* early!!!
I wonder why they chose not to do an internal scan given how early it is? They should have known how little you can see with an external scan prior to 8-9 weeks, they seem to have worried you for little reason. Hope this bubba is just burrowing in really deep.

If you didn't have a transvaginal u/s it is almost impossible at that gestation to see anything much. I wouldn't expect them to see anything at that stage abdominally.
Your HCG is doubling nicely but again you cannot see much on u/s until the figures are way above what you have.
Some spotting certainly isn't unusual - especially this early in pregnancy. keep an eye on it and if it increases contact your health care provider. I hope everything settles down.
Thanks again for all the words of encouragement. Good news from the doc today, hcg is over 2000 so more than double from last time. Still no symptoms and still spotting though, mostly brown but one wipe came up red and then that was all. Guess I will have to wait until my u/s Friday to find out for sure.
