Talking You know the book "Shoes from Grandpa"??

Ok, so this has been bugging me for AGES so I thought I'd post in here, to see if it was just me or if I am justified in being annoyed! Lol

Its about the book "Shoes from Grandpa" by Mem Fox.
We have it, and Ive also seen it on playschool.

Anyhoo, the bit that gets to me is the line "I'll buy you a blouse with ribbons and bows" because the words 'blouse' and 'bows' dont rhyme - and they should!
I almost want to say the word blouse as blows just so it does!

If you haven't read the book, its a series of lines with items of clothing that all rhyme - like "I'll buy you some socks from the local shops" or "I'll buy you a skirt that won't show the dirt"

Every time I read it it bugs me!
    Am I completely nuts???

We have the book also but i can't say this has ever bothered me. Obviously Mem got a bit stuck on finding something to rhyme with blouse or to call a blouse something other than a blouse. Hehe you've made me think and the next time i do read it i'll think of you

Oh yes, I am totally with you, blouse/bows annoys me no end... BUT...

I am even more incensed by the butterfly at the end of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. FFS it is clearly upside down!!! How could no one have noticed this during editing. The big wings go at the top and the little wings go at the bottom!!!

Yep, another one here that it annoys.

Also annoyed in The Terrible Plop, where it says "But the bear roared back, 'you show me where or I'll eat you up' roars the big brown bear". Every time I read it, I want to shoot the editor. Taught at primary school to find different words to describe speech.
