Does anyone know why he might be doing it? It's all the time, he turns his feet over and licks underneath. We've noticed the fur between the pads seems really long, should we trim it? That's the only thing I imagine can be wrong, there's nothing in there and they don't hurt when I press on them. Could the hair be extra long cos we haven't been able to walk him much lately?
We're going to the vet soon anyway for his yearly check up so I can ask then, but just wondering if anyone's got any ideas?
I would be thinking something else is irritating them rather than the hair being the issue
we walk our dogs every day and our standard poodles hair still grows long between his toes
sorry im no help
Have you had a good look between his toes? Seeing he has long fur maybe there is a grass seed or something stuck in there. This has happened to our dog a couple of times, once he had to have it surgically removed
Yeah we got right in there, had a good look and feel around and couldn't find anything. It doesn't seem to be causing him problems except for the licking. Think this might be one for the vet
My dogs do it too but they are just cleaning and I think they get itchy too as they get right in there with their teeth. But if you think it's out of the ordinary get puppy to the vets.
Hon our dog jedd does it after he walks on grass, he is allergic to it on his feet, they get really itchy. We got a tablet from the Vet to help not sure what they are can ask my mum, but can you wash his feet, sounds weird but its like when we have a rash.
Hmm could be the grass, he avoids it when he can and goes around lol. We did have some rash cream for his belly once, maybe it's the same type of thing.
Whenever my beagle's skin flares up, the first thing we notice is that she licks her paws. You can see through the fur that her skin is pink and agitated. Her rash is a little bit caused by food, and a little environmental. Hope he's okay soon.
I'd take him to the vet to make sure there is no dermatitis/allergy going on.
My dog does this as well but it's an OCD/anxiety thing and she was on anti anxiety tablets for a little while until she 'forgot' about it.
