Having finally purchased an umbrella stroller for travelling (on sale - yay!), I am now on the hunt for a travel bag. Has anyone found a generic travel bag that fits a normal-sized umbrella stroller?
I have seen a Valco one online for $40 (plus postage) and also there is a Childress Gate Check Travel Bag for $20, however this one is thin material and "not advised for check in baggage". Hmmm.
I noticed a Silver Cross one at ToysRUs last night as I was leaving but it didn't occur to me to have a closer look at it (while baby-less) and see if the stroller I bought would fit. I think the SC one was $30 and 15% off and I have a $5 voucher for TRU so that would only be $20.50. Which I think I can justify for my $99 stroller!! But not sure if stroller will fit as the bag was for a specific SC stroller.
Otherwise I was just going to check it in without a bag, and maybe with one of those thick luggage straps wrapped around it.
But I have been googling for storage bags, and this thread came up. On other forums, and I think here too, it's suggested depending on where you're going, you might be best to just buy another stroller on arrival.
emc2 - we're flying Perth - Sydney in April. On the way we have to take 2 flights. I've already bought a cheap but decent ($100 on sale from $160) umbrella stroller for the trip (and to keep after obviously!) so buying one over there is not an option. Also we arrive Good Friday when the shops are shut!
allycat06 - I think that is what we might do - just some thick plastic or something along those lines.
I went to ToysRUS and tried the Silver cross travel bag, but our stroller is too long and didn't fit. It was the larger of two SC bags so it was $40 anyway. There's a Childress double stroller bag that I think it would fit in but that is $50, plus postage if you buy online. So I've decided that is just too much money to be spending!
So I will either wrap the stroller in plastic or I might see if my MIL can make me a simple drawstring bag out of calico or some cheap durable fabric.
