I think that is fine darling...
If you think it will add extra stress (which you don't need while pregnant!!!) then do what is best for you and bubs!
Praying this is a sticky one!!!
Given my history (7 m/c's) and the fact there's nothing they can really do for some time yet if something did go wrong, could I get away with not seeing the Dr again until I'm at least 16wks?
For some reason I have it in my head this is the "safe" number and I'll be able to relax once I get to that mark.
I just don't want to be going through all the ups and downs of constant monitoring, scans and blood tests. I really don't want the added stress.
What do you think?
I've already had an ultrasound and seen the Dr twice.

If you are at ease with not going, and they are not monitoring you for any reason that they have control over and you don't need a referral to the place you want to birth ASAP, I don't see why you would need to go before then. For my last 2 pregnancies, I have slacked off with doctor's appointments. They don't do a lot in the appointments except for waste my time and money. I had been pregnant beforehand and was comfortable with not going so I only went when I felt I needed to.
We will be going public for the first time and there's only one hospital to birth at here so I'm guessing I don't need to be super early with booking in.
Going public for the first time is something else to stress about

If there is no advantage of the added stress then have a break. Take the time to relax, see how you feel in a couple weeks the reassess
All the monitoring etc will not stop something going wrong if it is going to happen (not being horrible here)
Congratulations!
Hope all is well this time
Yes part of me agree's with what you are saying you will always have in the back of your mind what if and is everything ok it doesnt matter how many u/s & tests we have us mums who have lost bubs will always worry.
But you also have to ask yourself what if you get to the 16 weeks with no more u/s or your nuchal scan and you get to 20 weeks and there is something wrong what would you do? would you continue a pregnancy with an serverely abnormal baby if the answer is yes then by all means relax and enjoy your pregnancy.
Myself i have had to end a pregnancy with a serverely disabled child with no prospects of a life and it was terrible i have had every test available with this bub u/s CVS and amnio i had to be sure i could not go through that pain again i would rather m/c early if nature intended then go through what i had to.
But i hope what ever decision you decide makes you relax and feel more optimistic that this pregnancy will be a healthy one for you.
I know what you're saying and to be honest I don't know. In my mind I would never terminate but I've also never been put in the position where I've have to make that choice so can't know for sure.
Surely they would have an idea if something was wrong if I had another u/s around 16wks?
My biggest fear is having the u/s's most of my m/c's have happened within days of having an internal u/s. I Know it's silly but most of the time I've had one I've been told everything is ok then days later start bleeding and its all over.
Not every one has CVS & other tests or u/s before 20 weeks. Yes everyone is risking the chance there could be something wrong, but thats our choice.
I've seen my MIL & a friend go through a pregnancy to lose the baby after birth due to chromosomal abnormalities, & I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but I just want to say that the majority of us survive til 20 weeks fine & have healthy babies.
I think you are fine. I've personally only ever seen them once in the first 12 weeks, then every 4 - 6 weeks til the last 4ish weeks. (I've not miscarried though)
You could also refuse an internal u/s. I've had a scan between 8 & 12 weeks with all mine, but just to check dates & see if they could find a cause for my severe ms. I've not had a single internal u/s. I know they are more accurate, but if you are worried, I'd steer clear.
praying hard for this one to stay put

I dont think i have said it yet but....... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I really hope its a sticky one
And yes i agree you go back to the drs when you are ready and try and relax (easier said than done i know)
xoxoxox
I don't think it is silly at all. My DS used to kick even the doppler away and reacted to it quite noticeably. In the end I asked the middies to only use a pinard. The WHO have some studies that show that U/S over-exposure can create kids who are left handed despite there being no family history of it, which would indicate it can cause neutral changes in some babies. So you wanting less U/S's is perfectly reasonable, and fear at this early stage not completely unfounded. Better to be safe than sorry. And BTW, congrats!
Toomanyshoes-I agree with clover there is no need to have internal u/s once you get to a stage where they can see bub with a normal scan and to be honest if you have already seen bub and all is ok then i would just do the 12 week nuchal scan and if all is good then relax the 12 week one is the main one to pick up chromosone and genetic abnormalities and seeing as though you are so young your risk will be very low.
All i can say is unfortunetly we have really no control over how our bubs are in there mother nature will do what it does and we just have to go along with her everyone has their own way to deal with m/c and pregnancy and it is not until you have been through m/c and loss that you really understand how fragile and unpredictable life can be all the best with your decision and pregnancy i have a good feeling about this one.
