We are getting one, she arrives via plane next Thursday.
I'm so excited! I never thought I would be, but I can't stop watching you tube clips and looking at her cute little face in the photos.
Lots of things for her to play with, they have lots of energy. To get her through the first few nights, you could ask the breeder to send a favourite toy with her - that worked well for our ****er spaniel when we brought her home, made her a little less anxious of her new surroundings.
Yep they're sending a puppy pack with her, with some essentials and her favourite toy
The people who are selling her were very particular about who they would sell too. They took our details and location and told us they would think about it and let us know! heehee! So we were very happy when we were picked! We've named her Jessie/Jess, as the girl border collie out of footrot flats is Jess. I know its probably common, but I think it suits her
They're the best dogs!!! Our girl is a Border Collie X and she is the best dog either of us have ever had. We got her as a rescue- her owners had given her up as appparently she had 'behavioural issues' but now as soon as she had a lot of room to run around and we gave her the physical and mental exercise she needed, her 'issues' disappeared.
They DO need a lot of stimulation. Training and exercise are really important for them. They need a couple of hours a day or they'll become destructive. Your girl looks divine!!! I'm sure she'll bring you loads of love and affection xxx
I hope you plan on giving her a lot of mental stimulation . I generally don't agree with dogs that are bred as working dogs being sold as household pets because it goes against their nature to be kept as a domestic pet kwim? They are likely to get bored and when dogs get bored they get destructive. Just make sure that you can take her somewhere to run and keep interesting things for her to play with and you should be fine.
Thanks for the tips ladies We live right next to a dog beach, so we'll definitely be using that daily!
DH loves dogs and is already planning the things he will be teaching her (including getting the chooks in the chook pen, haha). We're hoping that she just wont want to eat them on us :/
We have a short haired BC and he is great. He is a working dog though, but when he is not around animals he is a great family dog.
My biggest rule with puppies is to never let them use you as a chew toy, no play grabbing or biting or anything like that. Only with toys.
Also, I usually do this with older dogs but if you or DH have an old shirt you can wear it for the day and then add it to her bed when she arrives that way she gets aquianted with your smell. Remember too, that whatever you want your dog to do as it gets older needs to be started now, so if you want her sleeping in a particular spot you should start it straight away. I know it can be hard to resist their cries. Puppy preschool is always a great start and keep her away from other dogs until atleast a couple of weeks after her last vaccination.
She is a real cutie. You going to have so much fun.

We have a border collie who is 8 months old now. She is gorgeous!!! Very smart, and very cute...
She LOVES playing fetch and will do it for HOURS on end, we found using a tennis racket to hit the ball was best for her cause it went further so tired her out quicker! LOL... She does dig but it was mostly to get to her friend next door, they have since given away their dog so she doesn't dig as much now... chicken wire over the groud where she dug helped! And putting her poo in the holes stopped her digging too.
Just make sure she gets plenty of attention and stimulation, a bored dog is a destructive dog!! Oh and she likes to rip things up, so her dog bed, DH's socks etc all get eaten! LOL.
They are soooo much fun and really easy to train! You're going to love her!!
